WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan -- A woman who was treated with an experimental drug to fight the coronavirus is sharing her recovery story.
"Once my fever was gone, it was gone, that was it," Suzanne Schwing said.
Schwing is smiling again and with good reason. She spent 10 days in a hospital room after she was rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, where she was diagnosed with COVID-19.
"I was never on a ventilator, fortunately, and at one point, even with the Tylenol, my temperature reached 104, apparently, which I found out when the nurses came in and said we're going to put some cold packs on you," she said. "And suddenly I was covered on my head and neck with cold packs."
Like so many other patients, Schwing struggled with high temperatures and crushing fatigue. She said she was frustrated because her condition didn't improve for several days.
"You know, you get to a point at which, is this going to end?" she said. "How long is this going to go on?"
On day three, Schwing was given hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug, along with antibiotics. It's a pharmaceutical cocktail approved by the FDA for clinical trials, and this week, a preliminary Chinese study offered promising results.
Schwing is convinced it worked for her.
"I don't know how much of my recovery was due to the cocktail and how much of it was due to the length of the time I was spending recovering, but something certainly shifted," Schwing said. "And I think it would have shifted a lot later had I not received that particular treatment. That's my gut feeling."
Schwing believes that her recovery offers hope to others during this pandemic.

Dont tell Dr Death Fauci.
On the other hand viral respiratory infections tend to pass on its own on people with good immunity.
For that reason it is really hard to evaluate the effectiveness of every treatment.
Sorry. I.just.had.to. Forgive me.
He is running out the clock and dont care how many people dies as he has a vested interest in the vaccine that he & Bill Gates is working on.
He scoffs at an easy & cheap $20 cure but is chomping at the bits at the whiff of becoming a Billionaire when his vaccine becomes approved.

Another story which has zero chance of making CNN.
If you understand how quinine kills the malaria protozoa and how a virus replicates then it makes complete sense that quinine works.
The reason malaria is so difficult to cure is that the malaria parasite first pokes a hole in a cells outer membrane, then sucks out the contents of the cell and then uses the hole to enter the leftover cell membrane. It then wears the cell membrane as camouflage while it goes after the next cell. The bodys antibodies and macrophages dont attack it because they see it as one of their own. Quinine breaks down damaged cell membranes so it removes the camouflage and the white blood cells, antibodies and macrophages can then attack it.
When the covid-19 virus attacks a cell, it enters it and uses it to replicate while protected inside the cell. Antibodies and phages can only kill the virus outside of the cell. In entering the cell, the cell membrane has minor damage at the virus entry point, the quinine breaks down the damaged cell membrane before the virus can replicate and with the cell membrane compromised, antibodies, white blood cells and macrophages can get at the viruses and destroy them.
Quinine is the perfect medicine for this.
Incredibly crafty by the malaria protozoa. I didn’t realize that was its method.
RE quinine and COVID-19, I thought it helped get zinc into the cell which disrupted viral replication. You’re saying that’s not the case, that it’s really about breaking down the cell wall so the virus is exposed to white blood cells, etc?
Anecdotal and experimental. Anything to avoid admitting it is effective for some cases.
An anecdote here, an anecdote there... eventually it accumulates into data.
Its not a friggin experimental drug. Has been used for over half a century for malaria. More recently for autoimmune diseases
What crap reporting
“I thought it helped get zinc into the cell which disrupted viral replication.”
The zinc helps, but quinine goes after the cell membrane and breaks it down and allows the replicating viruses to be attacked, by the body’s immune system and the zinc.
With all the known “anecdotal evidence”, Any reasonable person must conclude that it is safe and effective for the vast majority of people who test Positive for COVID-19.
The “anecdotal evidence” is far greater than any clinical trial could ever hope to be.
For those who don’t understand clinical trials, there are three phases.
Phase I - testing to see if the drug(s) are safe. Hydrochloroquine has been around for about 65 years, so it is safe.
Phase II - Testing to see if a drug works on a relatively small group of patients.
Phase III - Testing to see if it works on a large nuber of patients, usually 100 - 300.
Hydrochloroquine has been used with a great degree of success on thousands of patients, so what’s the problem It’s cheap and very effective.
That’s the problem; Big Pharma would much prefer and expensive solution to COVID-19 than a cheap on. There you have it.
In most cases.
In most cases.
Oh sure only a thousand and plus anecdotal incident...
What the f*ck with this political intervention with ‘hydroxychloroquine’ and the companion drugs in the cocktail - sue their asses families threaten immediately - what in the fell is going on in this world - fake disease or if real then no relief if known if it is real!,
Doesn’t the Hippocratic Oath say “ First, do no harm”?
You see ads on TV for all kinds of medications with dire warnings ....like “may cause delerium, spasms, liver failure, death etc.”
I’d try it...What do you have to lose?
Pssst. Don’t tell anyone.
This fellow claims he attended CPAC and conducted an interview with a named individual on a Saturday while there and became sick almost immediately later on at the IHOP.
Had the mentioned medication, etc...
