Our navy had a frigate get rammed by a container ship. That was pretty stupid. IIRC, the gal on Bridge Watch had a tiff with the gal in CIC and "was not speaking to her", therefore, CIC radar did not notify the bridge.

Kind of bad luck on the Venezuelans part, picking a ship that can also do a bit of icebreaking.. it has a reinforced hull for just such a journey.

As a licensed Master I can’t even believe how this could happen. Yeah, I'm trying to picture it myself and it keeps coming up insane. The Venezuelan Captain deliberately rams a ship many times his size. Nothing happens. He does it again. Nothing happens. He does it again. There's a dent on the target and his ship is now taking water. He does it again...
Until he sinks.
I have to be missing something here. Somebody please tell me what I'm missing...
