“Japan is experiencing a significant increase in COVID-19 cases. Over the past 72 hours, more than 650 individuals across the country have tested positive, an increase of approximately 200 cases per day. On April 2, Japan saw the largest increase in cases since the outbreak of the virus,” the warning warning from the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo to American citizens on Friday read.
“The Japanese Government’s decision to not test broadly makes it difficult to accurately assess the COVID-19 prevalence rate,” the Embassy said on its website, referring to the illness caused by the virus. “While we have confidence in Japan’s health care system today, we believe a significant increase in COVID-19 cases makes it difficult to predict how the system will be functioning in the coming weeks.”
If U.S. citizens wanted to return to the United States from Japan they should do so now, or risk remaining abroad for an “indefinite period,” it said.

I was thinking the same thing. I’d take my chances in Japan. And they are not filthy like the Chinese.

The Japanese are arguably the cleanest people on Earth.
Can’t get into bed before taking a bath, and you can’t get into the bath until you have had a good soapy scrub and a good shower rinse first.
Yankee pitcher Mashahiro Tanaka did just what you suggest. He left Tampa and the Yankee training colony there to return to Japan.
Japan was trying very hard to lock down because they wished to save the Olympics. But now that the Olympics has been pushed back a year, they are letting their guard down. And the number of cases will grow which will give them the herd immunity they require. South Korea will inevitably do the same.
Japan’s healthcare system has been handling this virus very well. They have evolved to handle the cases on the Diamond Princess. And can now handle the general population better than most countries. Remember, nobody can stop this thing. Or goal is to slow it down. So our healthcare system can deal with the onslaught. Herd immunity, not a vaccine will end up saving us.

I know an elderly man and his son told me his Dad calls it the “Commie Chink virus”. Lol
My nephew’s son is working in Japan. He’s just settling in to a new job in a different town. The town on it’s own has Covid-19 rules about newcomers - 14 day self-quarantine before he can start work.
