AUSTIN (KXAN) Please help!
KXAN has heard frustrated pleas from gym members running into problems trying to cancel memberships.
Golds Gym is still charging people for gym memberships and the only way you can cancel is to send a certified letter where no one is working, writes a KXAN News viewer. When you dont have a job because of this pandemic every dollar counts!
Another viewer tells KXAN, Members must go to a location in person to cancel or suspend membership. Very unethical in time of crisis.
The state ordered all gyms and fitness centers to close because of COVID-19. KXAN investigator Arezow Doost reached out to a number of gyms to check on policies when it comes to canceling or freezing memberships.

These commercial gyms may never recover from this disaster.
I am..we have a great Chinese virus Facebook group..several of the local CrossFit gyms banded together. The day before the gyms were forced to close, members were allowed to check out equipment.
Every day they post workouts for those who have equipment at home, or for those who do not. We post photos after workouts, photos of our healthy meals...and members post all kinds of great recipes. They just started “zoom” workouts after it was clear we had to shut down for another month.
They sent out a notice that we would get a $40/month discount for the month of April..but most members donated it back to pay for those members who might be without work. #FitFam.:) Or, it might really be a cult...lol.
> Are you still keeping your gym membership? <
I dropped my gym membership at the end of last year, before anyone even knew about this virus thing.
And heres why. The older folks (like me) were the only ones wiping down the equipment after use. The younger people just moved from machine to machine, leaving us to clean up after them.
I figured it wasnt worth the hastle. So I went back to taking long walks and using dumbbells at home.

They’ve transitioned to the Zoom platform to conduct classes while the social distancing decrees are in place. So far it’s been fairly successful. They’ve even gained a few new members.
Every gold gym and 24 hr fitness in LA has a majority of fags who do not wipe down. I’ve heard this story from countless right friends of mine. And that’s why they don’t go to gyms anymore.
Haven’t had a gym membership of gone to a gym since 2008. Effing gross using a machine after a stranger used it.
My gym is the closest burger store .
My gym closed on March 19, said they’d froze and extend membership.
Both gyms extending membership for the duration of their closure. One is a county recreation facility; the other is a major chain. Didn’t ask for anything. Both just announced.
One already has not made it through. It’s the one that made the national news a few years ago for kicking out a woman who complained that a man was in the women’s locker room. I go by fairly frequently and there are usually lots of cars in the lot, but last week none, and the for sale sign.
my husband works at a gym and they are letting people freeze their memberships. Plus they are doing on line videos.
My old crappy home gym that i have had forever is really coming in handy now.
anybody need a VHS of Jane Fonda Workout? Haha. ( i don’t care what you use it for)
I received an email from Planet Fitness saying they have frozen all fees.
My Pilates studio is open for private classes only. Normally I am in a class of 6. I decided to pay the extra for a private class,
I am subject to refusal of service if I display any symptoms, must wash my hands before my session, and each piece of equipment is wiped down before and after I use it,

$40 set of dumbells plus all the stretching/pushups/plank my body can handle, and voila! .. 64,5’11,163
And for the truly OCD, I have it on good authority that running in place still works !
