Remains of 90-million-year-old rainforest found near South Pole
UPI ^ | April 1, 2020 | By Brooks Hays

Some 90 million years ago, a temperate rainforest grew near the South Pole. Scientists recovered fossil traces of the ancient rainforest from seafloor sediment cores collected near West Antarctica's Pine Island Glacier.

Seismic data suggested the sediment layer was unique, but researchers weren't expecting to find the remnants of a Cretaceous forest.

"The finding of this well preserved 'forest soil' layer was actually a lucky dip," researcher Ulrich Salzmann, professor of palaeoecology at the University of Northumbria in Britain, told UPI. "We did not know of the existence of this layer before."

Among the sediment layers, Salzmann and his research partners found roots, pollen, spores and the remains of flowering plants. Scientists were able to use the various plant remains to piece together a fuller picture of what exactly Antarctica's ancient forest looked like.

"This was a swampy forest, dominated by needle-leaved conifer trees with many ferns. The forest was a temperate -- not a tropical -- rainforest, similar to the forests found today in New Zealand," Salzmann said. "Summer temperatures averaged 19 degrees Celsius and water temperatures in rivers and swamps reached up to 20 degrees. This was despite a four-month polar night, meaning for a third of every year there was no life-giving sunlight at all."

Scientists estimate the polar rainforest persisted until the Oligocene epoch, before fragmenting some 20 million years ago. Pockets of rainforest likely remained viable until 10 million years ago.

Antarctica and the South Pole has moved a bit over the last 90 million years, but tectonic shifts don't account for the emergence and disappearance of the ancient Antarctic forest. The polar forest was made possible by climate change.

(hint: it is not in the Bible)

In the King James Version Bible, 1 John 5:7 reads: For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

There IS NOT a ‘Homoousios’ 3-in-1; 1-in-3; heavenly-multiple-personality-disorder, as defined by the various Catholic Nicene, Apostolic, Athanasian Creeds.

Since YOU are making this claim (which your chosen religion has taught you) then SHOW us; from each of these creeds; what you are yelling about.

It should be a simple thing to do.

Homoousion is a Christian theological term, most notably used in the Nicene Creed
for describing Jesus as "same in being" or "same in essence" with God the Father.

The same term was later also applied to the Holy Spirit in order to designate him
as being "same in essence" with the Father and the Son.

Wikipedia

The word homoousios means "same substance",
whereas the word homoiousios means "similar substance".
The council affirmed the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Godhead)
are of the homoousious (same substance).

"Jesus therefore said, 'When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me,'"

(John 8:28).

Why would Jesus say in John 8:28, "I do nothing of myself?" If he is God, can't he anything he wants?

Basic Christian theology teaches that Jesus is both divine and human at the same time. In other words, Jesus has two natures: God and man. We find support for this in the verses that say that "the Word was God and was with God," (John 1:1) and that "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us," (John 1:14). Also, Col. 2:9 says that in Jesus "dwells all the fullness of the Godhead and bodily form." Therefore, Jesus is both divine and human in one person.

We also see from the Scriptures that even though Jesus was in the form of God, he emptied himself (Phil. 2:5-8), and in so doing was made for little while lower than the angels (Heb. 2:9), and was also under the law (Gal. 4:4). That is why we would see him grow in wisdom and stature (Luke 2:52) -- because he was a man as well as divine, but the divine nature, so to speak, was cooperating with the limitations of humanity in order to fulfill the Law, and ultimately die for our sins. We, therefore, can draw conclusions from the above biblical references.

  1. Jesus was subject to the Father (John 5:30).
  2. Jesus did not come to do his own will, but the will of the Father (Luke 22:42).
  3. Jesus was not sent of his own initiative but of the initiative of the Father (John 8:28).
  4. Under the law, if Jesus was obligated to fulfill that law, which included worshiping God (John 17).

Having laid this foundation, we can then see why Jesus would say that he could do nothing of his own initiative. It was not that he did not have a will or a desire to do things. The issue is that Jesus had come to do the will of the father and he was completely in subjection to the father. Therefore, in that complete subjection, he could do nothing on his own initiative.

This does not mean that Jesus is not divine. It means that Jesus, having two natures, and one of them being human, subjected himself voluntarily to the law, as a man, and operated completely under the requirements of a man. A proper and godly man would do nothing of his own initiative but would do anything and only everything that God would have him do.

THE TRIUNE (TRINITARIAN) GOD IS NOT THE SAME AS THE GODHEAD .... AND IS NOT DEFINED IN THE BIBLE!!!!

Doesn't Mormonism teach that the bible is NOT everything GOD has to say to us?
Didn't Jospeh Smith translate MORE words of GOD??
Are not these words to be found in the Book of Mormon???

Book of Mormon:

Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God? And he answered, No. (Alma 11:28-29)

...and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God, to be judged according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil. (Alma 11:44)

...doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen. (2 Nephi 31:21)

...praises with the choirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are one God, in a state of happiness which hath no end. (Mormon 7:7)

...power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son--And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth. And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one God, (Mosiah 15:3-5)

...of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them. (Ether 2:8)

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ the Son of God. I created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are. I was with the Father from the beginning. I am in the Father, and the Father in me; and in me hath the Father glorified his name." (3 Nephi 9:15)

"And again the Lord called others, and said unto them likewise; and he gave unto them power to baptize. And he said unto them: On this wise shall ye baptize; and there shall be no disputations among you. Verily I say unto you, that whoso repenteth of his sins through your words and desireth to be baptized in my name, on this wise shall ye baptize them--Behold, ye shall go down and stand in the water, and in my name shall ye baptize them. And now behold, these are the words which ye shall say, calling them by name, saying: Having authority given me of Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. And then shall ye immerse them in the water, and come forth again out of the water. And after this manner shall ye baptize in my name; for behold, verily I say unto you, that the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one; and I am in the Father, and the Father in me, and the Father and I are one...And thus will the Father bear record of me, and the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him of the Father and me; for the Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost are one." (3 Nephi 11:22-27, 36)

I’m sorry that there are no Greek words to be found in the Book of Mormon; so that one can study them more closely.

And I’m sorry that there are no Reformed-Egyptian words to be found in the BoM; either; so that Joseph Smith’s claims of translating them can be put to the test.

Yes; put to the test by MORMON scholars.

So; when we find English words and phrases like ‘One GOD’ and
‘Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God’; we simply HAVE to take them at face value; wouldn’t you say?

‘It is what it is’.

If the Spanish speaking folks would like t have a ‘translation’ of the BoM in THEIR language; there is NO going back to the source document.

They HAVE to rely on what JS converted to English; and then get a re-translation of that into Spanish.

You are wrong. The oneness you refer to is oneness of purpose not identity.

The oneness is identical to that used by John in John 17:20-22 or Mark 10:8

....’and they twain shall be one flesh’

Show me in the Bible where it uses the term of ‘Trinity’ or ‘Triune’

It is not there!

The word ‘Trinity’ was introduced to Christianity and is defined in the Nicean, Apostolic and Athenasian Creeds.

You should learn more about your own religion.

We worship Almighty God the Father through his only begotten son, Jesus Christ.

You worship a God with a triune multiple identity disorder.

“ You are wrong. The oneness you refer to is oneness of purpose not identity.”

You claim so, now prove it.

You cannot.

AND DUDE, YOUR CULT BELIEVES THERE IS MORE THAN ONE GOD.

“We worship Almighty God the Father through his only begotten son, Jesus Christ.”

........

Mormonism worships a false god, never found in Scripture...

“ Joseph Smith preached:

“If Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and John discovered that God the Father of Jesus Christ had a Father, you may suppose that He had a Father also. Where was there ever a son without a father? And where was there ever a father without first being a son? Whenever did a tree or anything spring into existence without a progenitor? And everything comes in this way. Paul says that which is earthly is in the likeness of that which is heavenly, Hence if Jesus had a Father, can we not believe that He had a Father also? I despise the idea of being scared to death at such a doctrine, for the Bible is full of it” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 373).

Scripture teaches a different God than mormonism.

God says in Isaiah 43:10, “Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.” Psalm 90:2 says of him, “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” This is the God Christians worship. Of him we can say, “Who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 11:34-36)

And dude, mormonism also believes there are multiple gods.

Duh??? Notice your whole quote starts with “If....” So Joseph Smith speculated!!!

Is the Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith LDS Scripture??? No!

Why do you guys do this? Do Prophets of God know everything there is to know about God??? NO!

DOESN’T MATTER ..... YOU WORSHIP A GOD DEFINED BY THE NICEAN, APOSTOLIC, AND ATHANASIAN CREEDS!!!

Your God is an ever changing 3-in-1; 1-in-3 mystery ,,,,, basically a Heavenly Cloud with a multiple Identity Crisis!

I worship God, the Eternal Father ..... and you worship a Triune (is that like a pitchfork?)

Matthew 7:

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Once again .... since, you two aparently have very thick skulls ....

LDS People do not worship multiple Gods.

THERE IS ONLY ONE ALMIGHTY GOD, THE FATHER, WHOM ALL, INCLUDING JESUS CHRIST, WILL WORSHIP AND OBEY FOR ALL TIME AND ALL ETERNITY!!!!!!!!!!

Quite lying about our beliefs. Anything you have ever heard/read that conflicts with this simple fact is FAKE NEWS.... and frankly SLANDER!

Mathew 7 (1) Judge not, that ye be not judged. (2) For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. (3) And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

God will not forgive your slander.

Matthew 7: (21) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, ..........................................................................I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Good rationalization!

Is the Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith LDS Scripture??? No!

Shame your lyin' Prophet tells falsehoods. Should be stoned, but too late for that. He was lynched for chasing other men's wives and destroying other's property.

Do Prophets of God know everything there is to know about God???

teppe, they don't lie. Your's did.

Nah.

Nah. Our God doesn't change. Ever.

I worship God, the Eternal Father ..... and you worship a Triune (is that like a pitchfork?)

Mormons worship a fake god who used to be a sinful man. Plus now we know you think Joseph Smith was wrong about the nature of the mormon god.

What a hot mess!!

Here's another select quote by the Lyin' Prophet Smith, perverting the nature of God.

Here’s a quote from Joseph Smith:

"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret. If the veil were rent today, and the great God who holds this world in its orbit, and who upholds all worlds and all things by His power, was to make himself visible—I say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in form—like yourselves in all the person, image, and very form as a man; for Adam was created in the very fashion, image and likeness of God, and received instruction from, and walked, talked and conversed with Him, as one man talks and communes with another….

I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see…that he was once a man like us; yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ Himself did….

Incredible cultic nonsense.

So basically, you as a mormon worship Adam.

Show me where the ‘Trinity’ is defined in the Bible.

Basically .... you worship a Catholic Creeds Triune!

Since your Triune/Triad/Tripod/Trident God was dictated and coerced by Emperor Constantine .... before he became Christian and tried to destroy it .....

YOU BELONG TO THE CULT OF EMPEROR CONSTANTINE!!!!!

So .... did you find “Trinity” in the Bible? (if you can’t ... look in the Uninspired Creeds)

So .... how’s it feel to be a Roman Emperor Cultist?

I however, worship Almighty God, the Father who is completely Triune-Free!

Here’s a question for you (I know you hate/can’t defending your own religion)...

... if Jesus Christ is the ‘Only Begotten Son of God’ ....

.... and Mary through Virgin Birth donated 23 chromosomes ....

.... were Christ’s other 23 chromosomes from ‘God the Eternal Father’???

(Are you going to choke on this like every other time I’ve asked you to explain or defend your own religion?)
