WIN FALLS A small earthquake rattled southern Idaho Tuesday afternoon.
People reported feeling the quake around the Magic Valley, in the Wood River Valley, the Treasure Valley, Pocatello, and in Missoula, Montana.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the 6.5 magnitude quake was centered about 45 miles west of Challis at 5:52 p.m.

Lived most my life in San Francisco bay area. Some of it depends on how deep it is.
Clearly you don’t appreciate my humor.
Well, didn’t feel a thing here in Kansas. (Not too many earthquakes. Nature compensates by giving us tornadoes. :0
Did find the link to the USGS site.

Here is their “did you feel it” map.

Felt it in Nampa, Idaho (about 20 miles west of Boise). I have a couple large monitors on my desk and they almost tipped over. It was a good shaker, that’s for sure!
I grew up in California, this wasn’t a “small quake”. The epicenter is in the middle of nowhere, though, which is pretty much all of Idaho :)
I've experienced numerous quakes, including close to a 7.3 and many others ranging in magnitude. I've seen grown men line up to the bathrooms after quakes. Seen chandeliers swinging so bad they were chipping away the ceiling, watched sidewalks rolling like waves, and transformers on poles blowing up as far as the eye could see.
Being near the epicenter of a 6.5 will ring your bell.

Centered over Yellowstone Magma Chamber (supervolcano)
Nowhere near Yellowstone...hundreds of miles to the west.
Sorry.
Only about 180 miles straight line to Yellowstone.
That’s a long distance. Has nuttin to do with Yellowstone.
People on Facebook saying they didn’t feel it in northern Idaho. But reports from Oregon and Washington were saying yes.

Too bad it hit near Boise. More liberal than other places in Idaho, but then the Boise police did put Antifa in jail.
I’m in California now - Came back March 2. My wife went up to ski and the day she got there they closed the resorts in ID. So she decided to work remotely from there! We swapped places, LOL.
Challis is a long ways away. I doubt she felt anything. Did you feel it?
GF’s son is stationed at Mt. Home AFB and called his mom to tell her about it tonight. First one he’s ever felt.
Im not on facebook. But i did feel it and so did my neighbor 20 acres away.
Yes, we felt it! Suddenly my wife started getting texts from all our family in the area.
Yes, you’re much safer where you are. The ash would be a killer and go east. Stay safe.
You’re right and the last thing we want right now is a major natural disaster.
Could depend on different things I guess.
It would be a very bad year to have a major earthquake or a Cat 5 Hurricane.
