People reported feeling the quake around the Magic Valley, in the Wood River Valley, the Treasure Valley, Pocatello, and in Missoula, Montana.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the 6.5 magnitude quake was centered about 45 miles west of Challis at 5:52 p.m.

My wife and I were grocery shopping in Boise when it happened. Others in the store were mildly freaked out, but I just wanted to laugh for some reason. I was living in the Bay Area in October of ‘89, so I know what a major earthquake is like.

I am in Spokane and didn’t feel a thing. But then, I haven’t felt the earth move since 1978.

6.5 is what Californians use to stir their morning coffee.

How much is felt depends a lot on what kind of material your house is built on.

We live in eastern Idaho and have a lot of shallow ground water and poorly compacted gravels and clay and it rocked the hell out of our place...knocked a couple of trinkets off a shelf, had the dog barking, and the blinds swaying.

I lived in Chile for almost 6-years and have experienced a LOT of quakes...this one reminded me of a few.

I felt it up past Bonners Ferry near the Canadian Border. I was also working at a Glass plant in Lathrop Ca during the 89 Bay earthquake.

There have already been around a dozen aftershocks...strongest was 4.6M; a bunch in the 3.5M range.

I nearly spilled my beer, people. End times.

Challis. Cup of trembling.

You can't make this stuff up.

Small? Being near the epicenter of a 6.5, many would think the world is coming to an end.

No joke.

6.5 is what Californians use to stir their morning coffee.

BS...You've clearly never been near the epicenter of a 6.5.
