Trump Declares Second Amendment Essential
American Thinker.com ^ | March 31, 2020 | Daniel John Sobieski

Among the many illogical things that liberals have tried to include in bills and policies dealing with the Chinese Wuhan Virus pandemic is to try to repeal our gun rights under the Second Amendment to the Constitution. Various jurisdictions have decided that places like gun shops and firing ranges are “non-essential” businesses even as make our communities more dangerous by releasing criminals early and ordering police to ignore certain crimes in the name of fighting the pandemic. Self-defense in a time of social unrest and economic uncertainty is considered unnecessary, as if criminals are going to “social distance” themselves from their victims.

Liberals, however, prattle on about abortion being a constitutional right even though it is mentioned nowhere in the Constitution. The right to keep and bear arms is mentioned in the Constitution, but those who say abortion is essential say gun ownership is not. We must be able to end the life of the unborn even as some jurisdictions are saying having a gun to protect the lives of our families in these uncertain times is nonessential. Close the gun shops but keep the abortion clinics open is the logic of the liberal mind.

President Trump has given us yet another reason to be grateful we elected him as his administration declares that fighting a pandemic does not justify shredding the Constitution, and that gun ownership and training are in fact essential businesses:

This is a good time to push for reciprocity. The truckers are talking about it because they cross state lines and have increased concerns about hijacking. They should be able to carry and not worry that they have entered a state with crazy restrictions.

The Second Amendment is a prominent part of the Constitution. The right shall not be infringed. I would love to see this issue pushed and re-established by the Supreme Court. Gun Control is a bad thing.

I want *all* government officials...elected,appointed and "civil service"...to have,at least in the *back* of their minds, the knowledge that we,the "great unwashed" (my term), are not powerless when faced with any form of oppression from above.

*That* is why the 2nd Amendment is so vital. It has nothing to do with hunting and little to do with "personal protection".It's all about government oppression...and that's why this country's Maoists are determined to neuter it.

This is a good time to push for reciprocity.

This is a good time to push for the repeal of all laws related to weapons. There isn't a single one that makes sense unless you think law abiding citizens should be inconvenienced, which I'm sure you don't. There isn't a single law that stops a motivated criminal from getting a weapon, even in prison and that should be the only place weapons are not allowed.

Mr. President, please drill this point into Tommy the Commie Wolf’s thick head. He’s shut down gun businesses in PA. I know of one local gun manufacturer which has shuttered and laid off 40 employees.

Can law enforcement be sued civilly for following unconstitutional diktats?

Suits were filed when Wolf imposed his list of “nonessential businesses”. Our Leftist State Supreme Court took a mulligan and refused to hear the petition. Though some groups managed to jawbone their way into exemptions, including (*spit*) law firms.

One time, just once, I would like to see a conservative blog put the news of what happened somewhere in the first three paragraphs of a story.

And then, after reporting the news, follow with a well-written high-school essay on the Constitutional Amendment at stake and why liberals don’t appreciate it.

Usually not successful. The DA/AG asserts qualified immunity and usually are granted it by the Judge.

Kinda like the Wolf asking the Coyote if the Weasel can be declared protected for raiding the “locked” chicken house. The chicken can only squawk, and climb to a higher roost.

The best course of action for the chickens is to flee the pen, but alas, the safeguards built to protect them in fact preclude such independent action.

Paragraph two, US Declaration of Independence, explains it succinctly.

If Trump were a dictator like Bette Midler claims, he would have shut down the 2nd Amendment. Oh, and Bette would have disappeared.

Interesting, I'll have to re-read that part.
