147 miles completed, 203 miles under construction, 403 miles under pre-construction

Next week we will break past 150 miles completed. We only just cracked 100 in January. This year is going to see some real wall building, and some real effects from it. The President mentioned as an aside recently, that the effects they are seeing from the barrier completed so far, are even better than was expected.
great news!
difference now is that the Mexicans want the wall as well... such the irony.
In my area they are in bidding process for more wall. No slowdown at all here.
Thanks for the updates.
Good news each time...
Last month (before the COVID-19 blowup), Jared Kushner said that he expected that we would break a mile per day average rate by the end of April.
I think that an average crew runs about a half mile per week, so that would mean about four more crews starting work by then.
Stuff that is bidding now, probably won’t start work until after that - maybe 2-3 months later.
Great news; thanks for posting.
There are still dullards who thonk we are only building a wall.
The truth is that a wall without electronic countermeasures is insufficient.
Electronic countermeasures without a wall is insufficient.
Both together are highly effective and that is what Trump is delivering.

“The truth is that a wall without electronic countermeasures is insufficient.”
That is the truth.
Among Army Combat Engineers, it is a fundamental tenet of doctrine, that an obstacle must be kept under observation, to remain effective.
Any obstacle, if left unguarded, is subject to deliberate counter-obstacle tactics. Even Mount Everest can be overcome, if no one is watching to prevent it.
That is why the Trump Administration likes to call it “Wall System” - it is more than just a wall alone (roads, lights, cameras, with multiple alarms and sensors).
I've heard they don't want US citizens coming down there and bringing the virus with them. I suspect the real reason is that they don't want those 20,000,000 or so former Mexicans to come back home bringing the virus with them.
And that hot desert area kills bacteria too. Those workers are happy far away from civilization .

Seems to be state of the art
Thanx again for your updates, BeauBo
Thumbs up. Keep building.

“I’ve heard they don’t want US citizens coming down there and bringing the virus...”
That would be an interesting exchange since the illegals have been responsible for the re-introduction of polio, smallpox, tuberculosis and who knows what else to the U.S. Those folks who skip vaccinations for themselves and or their kids could be in for a very rude awakening.
Sensors, lights and alarms alone are useless as they can be overrun before personnel can respond to them.
You are correct in calling it a wall system.
Great New’s. Thank’s for the Update.
Six months ago we couldn’t get FIVE BILLION for the WALL.
Now we have 2 TRILLION to fight CV-19.
We can’t fit the wall in there somewhere?
Maybe keeping out OTMs (completely PC incorrect translation: ‘Other Than Mexicans) is reason enough.
- belated post, closing tabs and windows by the hundreds ...
