Det. Lt. Joe Kenda retired in Colorado Springs.
As a USAFA grad, this is concerning on so many levels. The Academys mission is to train officers and warfighters to protect this country. In 2 years, these kids could be flying combat missions, potentially be prisoners of war, and be deployed either fighting or supporting a war. If these kids cant handle being quarantined and disrupted by something like the coronavirus, then we have much bigger problems in how we are training our future leaders and who we select to admit. Bottom line, is most college students cant deal with life and service academy cadets are no different. The Academy is broken on so many levels, that I really question the point of them anymore.

Paging General O'Niel and the SG-1 team!!
Unfortunately these horrible events tend to occur in clusters. The NYPD had a rash of suicides about eight months ago. Why? Nobody really knows or knows what to do. Sure the Cadets will for the most part will survive and become the warriors and officers you describe. Unfortunately the Superintendent of the USAFA and the Pentagon have no model how to successfully deal with this situation. Sometimes these tragedies result in well meaning actions that are detrimental. Best thing to do if you know a Cadet is to support him or her and let them just talk.
WTH does that have to do with this story???
