With eye on election, Trump in high-stakes balancing act over coronavirus response

WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump offered a preview of his re-election campaign playbook last year when he visited the building site of a multi-billion-dollar cracking (sic) unit in western Pennsylvania, hailed as one of the largest construction projects in the country.

To Trump, it was a pitch-perfect example of a booming economy.

Except today, the site sits largely empty, after the coronavirus outbreak forced oil company Royal Dutch Shell to halt construction. The project’s thousands of workers are now unemployed, adding to the nearly 3.6 million Americans who filed for jobless benefits in the last two weeks.

The tension between wanting to keep workers safe from infection and trying to get back to business as soon as possible illustrates the fine line Trump must walk as he floats the idea of reopening the U.S. economy in defiance of the advice of public health experts.

Seven months before he faces re-election, Trump must find a balance between trying to stop the economy from spiraling into a severe recession while appearing to act decisively to contain a still-expanding health catastrophe.

Trump has been under increasing pressure to ease back economic restrictions from his Republican base, who consistently have been less alarmed than Democrats about the virus, which has infected more than 85,000 Americans and killed more than 1,200.

A March 18-24 Reuters/Ipsos poll shows 76% of Democrats agreed that the coronavirus is a “serious threat to me and my family” compared with 63% of Republicans.

Most of the cases seem to be in highly populated urban areas dominated by democrats. It will be interesting to track turnout rates this November among the coronavirus victims.

“Most of the cases seem to be in highly populated urban areas dominated by democrats.”

We discuss that a lot in our house when we see the flu maps. Then we wonder what kind of new cheating schemes the RATs will have to invent to make up for the loss of voters.

In general and over all the people in heavily democratic states are like mushrooms “they are consistently fed sh## and kept in the dark” Then you have others that are pure emotionally disturbed, and then you have the stupid, the arrogant, the uneducated, and the liberal elites. I think many who still have a brain and the ability to reason see what’s happening but not all

He should have stalled signing the corrupt virus recovery Act until today when the second trial of his recommended treatment showed the success it has.

Then spike the bill. America can see the way out, and don’t need the Democrat globalist crap.

The only way to stall the bill was to veto it ... and that would have been political suicide.

So Reuters, shilling for the Chinese Communists, blames President Trump for their bioweapon. That is a new low for James Oliphant. Pray for the President’s health, safety, and blessing as the plot against him is clear.

“Pray for the President’s health, safety, and blessing as the plot against him is clear.”

Pray daily and often. God never should have given Satan so much power on earth.

“It will be interesting to track turnout rates this November”

the Rats have successfully set the precedent for all mail voting in Ohio for their primary. If it is used in the general Trump is toast. The vote harvesting the rats will conduct will be impossible to overcome.

We’re going to re-elect Donald J. Trump by voice vote.

Does Reuters ever give good marks to Republicans other than the RINOs? The President is not a F’n wizard, he can only do what any other human being could under the circumstances. They expect too much from Trump, but had it been Hillary, there would be no appreciative difference. We would still have a stagnant economy with China running the show, and still have as many virus patients or possibly even more with the borders wide open. Its amazing, the Democrats could never produce a superman in our time, only a wuss. Some say Kennedy was, but as far as I am concerned HST was the last one, and he was reluctant to take the job. In this world of ours, $#!t happens often, and our leadership is expected to deal with it. A lot of times they are responsible for some of it, political wise. They don’t create natural disasters aka natures revenge like plagues, hurricanes, earth quakes and tidal waves. So sick of this political project and blame game they play.

Ditto. Every night.

And who would ever be surprised that Reuters would take the approach that this is all about Trump’s reelection? Big Media cannot stand that Trump CARES ABOUT HIS COUNTRY (unlike every Democrat in elected office).

I want to hear how the fiscal health of our future is being protected. Will we survive the virus only to have an economic disaster that turns America into Venezuela?
