Dr. Anthony Fauci, the health specialist on the coronavirus task force, has said the virus’s mortality rate is closer to that of a bad case of the flu. In a Thursday report published by the New England Journal of Medicine, Fauci conceded COVID-19’s death rate was twice that of the common flu, making it roughly 0.28 percent.
That rate is exceptionally low, especially when compared to that of the SARS and MERS epidemics, which peaked at 9 percent and 36 percent respectively.
His latest comments marked a major about-face for Fauci, who previously claimed the coronavirus was 10 times as deadly as the flu.
“The seasonal flu that we deal with every year has a mortality of 0.1 percent,” he said. “I think if you count all the cases of minimally symptomatic or asymptomatic infection, that probably brings the mortality rate down to somewhere around 1 percent, which means it is 10 times more lethal than the seasonal flu.”
Let me take this time, then to inform you that your reply to me WAS a personal attack. Sarcastic parroting is a personal attack, and is the level that your posts have devolved to in this thread.
I will tell you that I discount the data from China in the chart posted, as well as the ridiculous title. So did the original poster.
I am looking for data to understand the nature of this disease.
Sadly, I am concluding that “deaths” is the only valid metric, and that, only when the attribution to COVID-19 can be relied upon. All other factors, like HCS, age and secondary conditions must be kept in mind, while evaluating deaths, for extrapolation and such.

What I did do was nuke your points in a systematic and reasonable way. Your response I am afraid is to either double down or feign taking it personally which is the last refuge of someone who cannot respond to a rational argument.

And the original poster did now originally, or since that I am aware of, discount or disclaim the headline of the chart. They posted it as a “fear” vehicle to show how bad the virus was. They did that to counter the notion that this wasn’t the flu.

This is just the flu. Equally dumb, “we are all gonna die!!!”
The chart was posted for the latter. It’s heading is what it is. It’s data inside is what it is.
I repeat, it is possible to recognize the legitimate threat AND question the response to the virus. I want to see the numbers but I want to see the context.

Factually untrue. The mortality rate is currently less than for the flu because only 1% or so of the population has been infected. CCP-19 is killing more people daily and it is only a matter of time, now, before it catches up and then leaves the flu far behind. Largely because of idiots LIKE YOU.
CCP-19 kills at least 10 times as many people per case. It is definitively NOT less lethal than the flu.

BS. You don’t know that. Less than 1% has been tested, but you don’t know the actual infection rate, which by medical estimates has been in the millions.
Millions have likely had the virus without knowing it and/or without being tested for it.

China locked everything down in an attempt to hide the evidence that they had a genetically engineered FLU outbreak. The CCP couldn’t care less about 4 or 10 or 100 thousand Chinese dying of this flu. The overreaction and the media repeated propaganda today is about covering their lab’s tracks. Everyone else, myself included, reacted like you, to the Chinese perceived overreaction and overreacted according. Bottom line, its the flu.

Plus, they wanted to mess up the rest of the world, so they allowed countless Chinese to travel all over the world after being infected, and made all kinds of scary fake videos, many obviously staged, to instill chaos and fear all over the world.
I say this again: it is possible to hold two news here and we are all taking past each other. First, it is possible to believe that this virus is serious. Second, it is possible to hold that belief and still question the manner in which this is being handled.
Consider this: they cancelled ever mass event to prevent the spread, smart. They then proceeded to cause a panic that drove everyone out to the markets, Costco’s, doctors offices, etc. AT THE SAME TIME, thus creating an infinite amount of daily mass events.
