According to CDC, people around the world commonly get infected with human coronaviruses 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1. Sometimes coronaviruses that infect animals can evolve and make people sick and become a new human coronavirus. Three recent examples of this are 2019-nCoV, SARS-CoV, and MERS-CoV.
Coronavirus treatment
With coronavirus pandemic claiming over 10,000 lives with at least 250,000 reported cases, the race to find treatment for people already infected with coronavirus became critical. The good news came on March 16, when a new academic study by a group of researchers, in consultation with Stanford University School of Medicine, UAB School of Medicine, and National Academy of Sciences researchers, found that over the counter anti-malaria pills Chloroquine may be highly effective at treating coronavirus COVID-19. Chloroquine works by enabling the bodys cells better to absorb zinc, which is key in preventing viral RNA transcription and disrupting the often fatal cytokine storm.
However, the good news was short lived after FDA came out saying chloroquine has not yet been approved to treat coronavirus patients until sufficient data about the safety and effectiveness of chloroquine is available. Now, a new unearthed paper published in 2005 and shared with CDC, found that Chloroquine is effective in preventing the spread of SARS CoV in cell culture.
The study published in Virology Journal titled Chloroquine is a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread, found that Chloroquine, a relatively safe, effective and cheap drug used for treating many human diseases including malaria, amoebiosis and human immunodeficiency virus is effective in inhibiting the infection and spread of SARS CoV in cell culture. The fact that the drug has significant inhibitory antiviral effect when the susceptible cells were treated either prior to or after infection suggests a possible prophylactic and therapeutic use.
Below is the abstract of their findings.

Week old story published on the 20th.
Was posted here a number of times back then.
“we now have ten days of people who were taking it after they were ill and all the people who were seriulsy ill or dead who were taking it prior.”
What are your sources that indicate all people who were on a regimen of hydroxychloroquine paired with azithromycin and/or zinc sulfate have died?
A very likely scenario.
It wasn't patented anymore and went into generic production. No labs were interested in paying for the studies and CDC didn't run anything.
The government knew that coronavirus pandemics were a serious danger, and they failed completely to follow up on an inexpensive, effective drug.
Today, they dismiss doctors' efforts to use it as "anecdotal."
What is anecdotal is the performance of CDC/NIH/FDA.
I have my doubts this is accurate and am heavily leaning towards disinformation
The article states the common cold is caused by a Coronavirus.
That's factually incorrect.
The common cold is caused by a Rhinovirus.
That's reason enough for me to not put any credence in this "article" which is cited in one location on one twitter feed.
If hydroxychloroquine is a antimalarial medication, why are they prescribing it to people with autoimmune disease like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis? Do you think they might have discovered at a point in time that it was also effective on these diseases? That’s how medicine works. That’s how Viagra was discovered for goodness sakes.
They have also discovered that hydroxychloroquine is an ionophore that allows zinc to more easily penetrate a cell wall and interfere with the virus’s ability to replicate itself. Again, it prevents the virus from hijacking the RNA sequencing mechanism of a cell to replicate itself.
Secondly, hydroxychloroquine helps regulate the immune system and prevents what is killing a lot of people, the sudden release of a large amount of pro-inflammatory cytokines that destroys healthy lung tissue, known as a cytokine storm.
please do a little more reading on the subject so you know how it actually works. You might want to watch this video and learn something:

I want to know how many people who were taking drugs chronically for other Diagnoses prior to this event are among the seriously ill and dead. That will tell us if the drug works. If there are such cases the drug does NOT work 100%.
If hydroxychloroquine is a antimalarial medication, why are they prescribing it to people with autoimmune disease like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis?
For money, perhaps?
There is no reason to use the drug anecdotally. If I had access to the database I could write the article this afternoon and still have time to cook supper.
Hey, OJ is still looking for the real killer too.
It was a cell culture (in vitro) study.
They were too pre-occupied with other things to perform studies on patients.
Unfortunately, this seems to support the view that government “workers” at any level often bung things up. All stereotypes have at least a kernel of truth.
Ping-a-ling
‘They’ have already discovered that IT DOES WORK.
I'm curious, are pro-inflammatory cytokines the same thing or related to having a high CRP? (C-Reactive Protein?) I suffer from an inflammation disorder and am on meds that repress my immune system which puts me at higher risk of catching coronavirus (I'm not freaking out about it though.)
Just curious to know if CRP and cytokine storm is related?
Reference? I am eager to read it.
BS ... do you even know why hydroxychloroquine with zinc actually works? Doubt it! Go learn more then get back to us.
A drug called Quinidine, related to Hydroxychloroquine, is used to treat heart arrhythmias. I think Covid-19 can cause heart problems that doctors would treat with Quinidine. Maybe the French doctors who did the small study that started all this used Quinidine on a Covid-19 patient having heart trouble, and saw that it not only stopped the heart arrhythmias, but also stopped the viral spread.
Oops, the cat was out of the bag.
Watch the video and learn like I did, jerkwad.
