Conspiracy theories claiming COVID-19 was engineered in a lab as part of a biological attack on the United States have been gaining traction online in recent weeks, but a new study on the origins of the virus has concluded that the pandemic-causing strain developed naturally.
An analysis of the evidence, according to the findings first published in the scientific journal Nature Medicine, shows that the novel coronavirus "is not a laboratory construct or a purposefully manipulated virus," with the researchers concluding "we do not believe that any type of laboratory-based scenario is plausible."
Researchers concluded that the novel coronavirus is not a human creation because it does not share any "previously used virus backbone." It likely arose, the study said, from a recombination of a virus found in bats and another virus, possibly originating from pangolins, otherwise known as scaly anteaters.

But this one time, it’s obvious that the virus was a weapon engineered by the Chinese government.

No reason to think that this is not found in nature and has been tweaked.
Not completely a lab constructed virus, true, but tweaking it certainly is within the realm of possibility.
Certainly would be a time saver over completely inventing a new one.

You mean briefings provided by the same intelligence agencies that apparently did not pick up on the problem in China and warn Trump in a timely manner?
More significantly, many of the unusual anomalies associated with unique and novel features of covid 19 track relevant topical research papers published by Wuhan affiliated scientists in recent years.
This is especially the case for an engineered virus stolen by Chinese national, Wuhan affiliated researchers arrested in Canada for espionage and theft of that virus and subsequent transfer of that virus from a Canadian Level 4 pathogen research facility to China
And China did mention that the corona virus originated in America
