New Orleans is quickly becoming a hotspot for the coronavirus, and the city's jam-packed Mardi Gras season could be the reason why, according to medical experts.
More than a million revelers crowded into the city's famed French Quarter and other neighborhoods over several weeks to celebrate the costumed gathering, the culmination of the Carnival celebration. The Mardi Gras season ran from Jan. 6 to Feb. 25, or Fat Tuesday.
In the weeks after, the coronavirus pandemic has spread across the United States, overwhelming hospitals in some cities and prompting lockdowns of several urban areas. The "Big Easy" -- one of the nation's most impacted cities -- had a reported at least 997 cases.

Probably.
Check out Colorado’s Ski Resort Counties.
Visiting peeps from all over the world left a mark....
Ya think?
Nah - not in that germ filled ghetto crammed with drunken slobs.
Thats like saying that the Moon may have some effect upon the tides.
Duh.
I know there was a book about people from there that were blood drinkers. So, thats not pasteurized.
Idiots.
Same for Utah’s ski resort areas. Lots of in-comers, including international travelers who had been bopping all over the globe collecting germs.
So Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude, Snow Basin, Park City, Deer Valley, Powder Mtn., et.al. are also prematurely shut down?
It’s a bummer.
Note that some Colo. county is working to shut down out-of-county skiers from going off piste along US 350.
This virus stuff is totally screwing up Spring Skiing.
I don’t know what their shut-down status is, but that’s where the virus cases are. It would certainly make sense if they’re closed.
Oh, they’re all down all right. A good friend of mine’s son runs a condo management operation up there, and had to layoff a hundred people last week. Those numbers aren’t “forecasts,” they’re real.
And to be clear, it’s not the virus that’s causing all the problem. It’s the panic and hysteria that the Fearpers and their buddies in the MSM caused.
That’s what happened.
People have been pushing Gov. Beshear (D) of KY for his CV response, touting his effectiveness by comparing KY CV cases vs. TNs higher numbers under Gov. Lee (R). Of course no one considers KY doesnt have a city like Nashville, which has a HUGE number of out of town travelers. Nashville surpassed Las Vegas in the last few years for number of visitors for bachelorette parties, for example.
There is no doubt air travel is a huge factor in propagation of this thing.
Well, the Kentucky Derby hasn’t happened yet. I guess we’ll see what happens then (if it goes off).
Gee a neo-pagan bachinnalia spreads disease?
Whod a thunk it?
Stupid is as stupid was, ignoring an obvious growing threat
Also Utah
DUH! Who could have guessed?
It would be interesting to see a comparison of the New Orleans Mardi Gras corona trend vs. the Rio de Janiero Carnivale one. Rio is an even bigger deal globally than Mardi Gras.
