Atlanta hospitals overwhelmed by coronavirus patients
CBS News ^ | Mar 25,2020

At Atlanta's Grady Hospital, all 100 beds in the intensive care unit were full. Then COVID-19 hit. Viral patients are now quarantined wherever the hospital finds space.

"The stress is not just capacity," Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Jansen told CBS News. "It's not just stress of supplies, but on the individuals taking care of the patients. Because so much is not known."

At all of Atlanta's four major hospitals, every ICU bed is taken.

"Just kinda deteriorated," said Justin Anthony, whose cousin is in one of those hospitals. "By Sunday, the fever had not broken and she started coughing.

His cousin, Emma, is 12, one of Georgia's youngest coronavirus patients. Emma's hooked to a ventilator at Atlanta's Children Hospital.

In Alabama, a newborn baby girl is in isolation after her nurse tested positive for COVID-19.

Back in Georgia, at one rural hospital, 12 COVID-19 patients have died. That's more than in thirty-eight states. The hospital is overwhelmed.

"They've asked for help, but we can't give it," Jansen said.

Grady was already full. ANY outbreak of anything would overfill them, in fact they are always beyond capacity. Your comrades in the media found a convenient place for your/their narrative.
In the real world, Atlanta has tons of hospitals and beds. And there are relatively few dire cases here anyway.

In all my years on FR I’ve never seen such brazen Alinskyite gaslighting. The Wu Flu addicts take that prize by miles and miles.

Nope, not at all. Just patiently waiting for the hype to die down so we can move on as a country and lose our minds over a virus.

Indeed. And while you are in the hospital for a hole in the chest, you also catch Corona.

Metro Atlanta has wayyy more than 4 hospitals.

Piedmont Hospital group with multiple locations is well known on the north side. Then there is Northside Hospital, too.

As of last year up here in Marietta, Wellstar Kennestone had 76 ICU beds. I think that has increased with the overbuilds.

Here is a list of the Wellstar Hospitals. I deleted those not in the metro area. There are fifteen more Urgent Care Centers for emergency use that would feed into these hospitals.

WELLSTAR ATLANTA MEDICAL CENTER
Founded in 1901, the 762-bed hospital includes two campuses in midtown Atlanta and East Point. It is known for its Level I Trauma Center.

WELLSTAR ATLANTA MEDICAL CENTER SOUTH
Founded in 1901, the 762-bed hospital includes two campuses in midtown Atlanta and East Point. It is known for its Level I Trauma Center.

WELLSTAR COBB HOSPITAL
The Silver Beacon Award winning, 382-bed hospital serves South Cobb County's health needs, including cancer and cardiac programs, a private maternity center and accredited total joint program.

WELLSTAR DOUGLAS HOSPITAL
Since 1982 this 108-bed hospital has served Douglas County with world-class inpatient and outpatient services, earning recognition as one of the top medium-sized hospitals in the state by Georgia Trend magazine.

WELLSTAR KENNESTONE HOSPITAL
This 633-bed hospital has been recognized as a top hospital in the state by U.S News & World Report with ongoing investment in new technologies like Georgia’s first CyberKnife®, TomoTherapy® and da Vinci® robotic surgical systems.

WELLSTAR NORTH FULTON HOSPITAL
Located in Roswell and serving the broader North Fulton community, the hospital is recognized for its Accredited Cancer Program and Primary Stroke Center designations.

WELLSTAR PAULDING HOSPITAL
A state-of-the-art replacement hospital opened in Hiram in 2014. Today, it features 112 private inpatient rooms, 40 emergency exam and pediatric emergency exam rooms, four surgical suites and decentralized nursing stations.

WELLSTAR WINDY HILL HOSPITAL
This 115-bed hospital is home to the Southeast's largest Sleep Disorders Center and features nationally recognized specialties in long-term acute care, interventional radiology and outpatient rehabilitation.

Funny how the lethality of this illness is COMPLETELY UNKNOWN.

Mass General is a huge Hospital. 53 new patients is nothing. I know 2 nurses who work there that were sent home early yesterday because of a shortage of patients. I’m not saying a deluge is not coming, just saying it is not here yet. There is not an overflow at any hospital right now in Boston. Is it coming? Maybe.

Perhaps there were better alternatives. We’ll never know.

GWB deserves praise for many things, including Justice Alito, drilling / fracking, and supporting our military and police.

Too bad he never fought back against the treasonous Enemedia.

New York City has been closing hospitals and turning them into condos for the last ten years. Always thought that was a bad idea.

I’d be looking for validation too if I had decided to fill my garage full with paper towels and dehydrated Salisbury steak. So I can understand where the Wu Flu pumpers are coming from.

You are praying for lots of people to die, because you cannot stand another result.

“reality is going to hit them like a ton of bricks.”

Tell me I’m lying. What’s the “reality” you are rubbing your freakish little hands together hoping for so you can really take it to the “FluBros”?

I already got one religious nutjob that blew up saying that this was the wrath of Christ, and another one of your buddies hoping people drop dead in the damn streets because he NEEDS to be right.

People like you are just pathetic at this point. Cheering for death for cheap internet points.

“New York City has been closing hospitals and turning them into condos “

Unreal and disappointing. I guess New York did it to themselves. They turn around and provide Health Care for Illegals.

I guess we can expect New York City to be like Italy since they have a similar health care system.

Ok, you're lying. Quite hysterical too. Has anyone ever told you that you'd be useless in a foxhole?

Now Mass General is one of the best. I think they max out but not overflowed. I think the social distancing will help and the fact we might have a good treatment now.

Never been to Boston before besides passing in the Airport, is the population pack in like New York?
