Fear and Panic for A Purpose – The Coronavirus Evolves Into “The Blue Plague”…
theconservativetreehouse.com ^ | 3/26/20 | sundance

Posted on 03/26/2020 5:28:28 PM PDT by a little elbow grease

The “Blue Plague” is an intentional effort by various interests to create fear-porn amid the American population by intentionally hyping a mass hysteria about the coronavirus.

In many ways the Blue Plague is exponentially more dangerous than COVID-19 itself.

Earlier today, The New York Times became the epicenter of the Blue Plague by stating people in hospitals throughout the city were dying, as desperately under-prepared and under-equipped doctors and nurses could not find ventilators for thousands of arriving patients in a state of panic. This was/is incitement at its worst. Blue doctors and Blue nurses, aligned with the political resistance efort, transmitted videos claiming desperate and dying patients, using the term “apocalyptic surge“…

[…] hospitals are under siege. New York City’s hospitals run the gamut from prestigious teaching institutions catering to the elite to public hospitals providing care for some of the poorest communities in the nation. Regardless of whom they serve, few have been spared the impact of the pandemic: A flood of sick and fearful New Yorkers has besieged emergency rooms across the city.

[…] At least two city hospitals have filled up their morgues, and city officials anticipated the rest would reach capacity by the end of this week, according to the briefing. The state requested 85 refrigerated trailers from FEMA for mortuary services, along with staff, the briefing said.

9/11 took very little money, people.

This virus hoax also has only taken a small amount of work. There were armies of uesful idiots to continue the lie.

Brilliant execution of the plan, and with trillions of stock market capitalization to deplete, rather profitable too.

"Unreal how easy it was for all of America to surrender their freedoms. Not a peep, not a shot. Locked up, home detention, so Big Brother can keep us safe."

Yes .......... I live in a pretty nice suburban area north of Pittsburgh. For about two weeks now I have not been able to believe the bizarre panic at our local grocery store.

I am embarrassed for Americans. I thought people were smarter than this.

Yeah, all a sudden there seems all sorts of experts on infectious diseases, math, statistics, science, viruolagy...

With all of them advocating that Big Brother is wise to have us all locked up, out of work.

This isn’t going to end well.

I’ll bet President Trump has a certain sense of amazement how easily ‘they’ (whomever they are) could tip our country upside down.

Yep - far too many FReepers would have proudly chanted, "Better Red than Dead" back in the '50s and '60s as the Cold War heated up - and would rather live in slavery than risk anything for FReedom...been having a few "conversations" with a couple of the snowflake pansies recently...

I'm willing to bet there were times when many of them used these two truisms:

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” Ben Franklin

“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.” ― William Pitt the Younger

But they keep acting as if the Constitution is "situational" and that there's a bunch of "Noble Cause" clauses in it.

It's no big shocker that The War of the Worlds—a book about a dang alien invasion—is big on fear.

But what Wells does with the theme of fear is interesting. He suggests that it's both an important reflex (if Martians are firing their Heat-Ray at you, maybe you shouldn't just stand there) and a reason people act stupidly and rashly (like, say, trampling each other while trying to get away from the aforementioned Heat-Ray). We see both of these sides in this novel: fear both saves lives and destroys them.

Questions About Fear

Did you feel fear when reading this book?
Many of the first reviews talked about how thrilling it was.
Why do you think they found this book thrilling?
Does Wells use any tricks to keep us afraid or thrilled?
Throughout the novel Wells shows that fear is contagious, but if fear is contagious, how does that idea square with what Wells shows us of community in The War of the Worlds?
Should we all just be hermits and avoid each other?
Are there any other emotions in this book that are "contagious"?
Wells shows us fear that is useless (running around without looking where you're going) and fear that is useful (realizing that you should get out of the way of the Heat-Ray). Is there any hint as to why fear might be useful sometimes and useless other times?
Do different characters react to fear differently?
For instance, what does the artilleryman fear?
How does he respond to fear when we first meet him versus how he responds when we meet him again on Putney Hill?

Chew on This

Wells uses The War of the Worlds to show that fear is an emotion that can only be successfully managed by individuals who have special training. By contrast, groups always react to fear in the worst way possible.

In The War of the Worlds, fear is closely related to the idea of folly, in that fear can help us overcome our folly.

And yet, Freepers keep posting stories.

If you think the stories foment hysteria, the ask why people keep posting them. Sometimes, two or three a day.

It’s kind of funny. The flu bro’s are in such a frenzy, they cannot help themselves. They post a story and then screech for 100 posts.
