The number of cops calling out sick jumped again Wednesday with more than 3,000 officers out ill as the coronavirus spreads in the NYPD.
Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said on MSNBC Wednesday morning the number of cops taking sick time was three times the normal rate and currently sitting at about 3,200 officers ill.
The backup plans are already underway. We are certainly making adjustments, Shea said, without outlining the plan. We are a very well-resourced department. But make no mistake we are going to get through this and the New York City police department is going to lead the way out of this.

236 NYPD officers tested positive for the virus.
LAPD has 8 officers who tested positive...One civilian employee tested positive as well...I have a feeling that more LAPD officers will test positive...
I do watch BLUE BLOODS sometimes...With Tom Selleck as the Commissioner...
“Blue Flu” is not the same as COVID-19.
Ah.
The BlueWuFlu
Over 95% of them will be back at work in 5 days.
He goes on MSNBC to announce this? Creates a bit of doubt about anything he says.
I love Blue Bloods. Hate the new show Tommy with Edie Falco as lesbian LAPD police commissioner. Unwatchable.
The De Blasio flu
no big deal anyway.
mayor deblasio won’t let them arrest anyone
Proof that donuts do not cure the ChiCom Flu.
I love Blue Bloods. Hate the new show Tommy with Edie Falco as lesbian LAPD police commissioner. Unwatchable.

Is the NY subway system still in operation if so it must be germ express.
From what I’ve read, LE aren’t getting much direction or support from the mayor on policing in a coronavirus environment. Then they already had a no bail policy, releasing the criminals as quickly as they’re arrested. I can’t see LE putting much effort into arresting people and putting themselves at risk.
My daughter lives in Brooklyn but she just recently fled the city to come here to Tennessee to stay with us until this all blows over. With emboldened criminals and the coronavirus, it was time to get out.
“The De Blasio flu”
That’s what I’m thinking - let him run the city without cops.
As to New Yorkers, they’re all arrogant SOBs (they voted 90% plus for Hillary), except for our one FReeper there.
The commie scum Deblasio has already been attacking the police constantly for years now
Stupid liberal politicians which run that city top to bottom and have for years have passed laws saying that were not going to ever prosecute anybody or arrest anybody for anything unless its a serious violent crime
Again those same stupid liberal politicians have passed sanctuary city laws and other things saying that criminal illegal aliens are completely protected species
And now we have the unleashing of this mystery virus on Gotham city - imagine trying to be a cop in that environment!
Milk it baby milk it!!! Ugh!! Screw it ..people want to go back to work!! We’ll take our chances!!!
That’s what happens in big population centers. Lice, cooties and other nasties are able to jump from person to person, making life easy for the cooties.
Viva Urban Sprawl!
I wouldn’t get too cocky if I were you. Infectious diseases may spread faster in urban areas but when it does hit the rural areas they have a higher fatality rate because rural areas have a higher average age and fewer hospital beds per capita. Rural or urban, we should all be taking *reasonable* precautions (not hoarding toilet paper!).
They only take sick days when overtime avavailability is at a low ebb.
As to New Yorkers, theyre all arrogant SOBs (they voted 90% plus for Hillary), except for our one FReeper there.
