Can You Become Immune to the Coronavirus?
NY Times ^ | Apoorva Mandavalli

As the number of people infected with the coronavirus surpasses 450,000 worldwide, and more than one billion are locked in their homes, scientists are wrestling with one of the most pressing questions of the pandemic: Do people who survive the infection become immune to the virus?

The answer is a qualified yes, with some significant unknowns. That’s important for several reasons.

People who are confirmed to be immune could venture from their homes and help shore up the work force until a vaccine becomes available, for example. In particular, health care workers who are known to be immune could continue to care for the severely ill.

Growing immunity in the community also is the way the epidemic ends: With fewer and fewer people to infect, the coronavirus will lose its toehold and even the most vulnerable citizens become more insulated from the threat.

Just wondering then does the virus float around like pollen or sticks to whatever they happen to hit; then this six foot rule. Where does the virus go after six feet? Sink to whatever surface is near or on to the floor?

Six feet is just based on how far a virus (on average) will disperse when it is aerosolized by a cough or sneeze. The virus won’t just float on the air forever, it is going to settle on some surface, and then eventually it will die if it doesn’t wriggle its way into some host.

Really, when they are talking about the virus becoming an aerosol, it’s not just the virus itself floating around, it is tiny droplets of body fluids in the air floating around, and they just happen to contain the virus. When those droplets settle out of the air, the virus goes with them.

An early study on rhesus monkeys suggest yes.

Antibodies are formed and they appear to protect against reinfection.

We have some new tests coming soon that will check for antibodies. If you have the antibodies, you won’t need to worry about PPE and you’ll be able to return to work.

Combine this with growing supplies of orthoxychloroquine plus azithromyacin and we could be turning the corner soon.

K, Thanks for that. Since I’m on furlough from Frontier I fly jump planes so just wanted to make sure I board before anyone else.

So does normal breathing expel the virus?

Given the HYSTERIA around the topic, 10 MINUTES OF COMMON SENSE from a scientist in the field.
Has anyone VETTED the SCIENTISTS now surrounding & “advising” Trump? How many are leftist Democrats with a political agenda? Consider the STILL NOT CLEANED OUT Deep State INFECTED DOJ & God knows how many other government departments.
Have we ever been lied to by the managerial class in government whose jobs depend on how submissive they can keep the rest of us?
How many of them HATE TRUMP & his stated goal to DRAIN THEIR SWAMP?
Heard the stories that CDC employees wept when Trump beat Hillary? How objective would THOSE folks be collecting & analyzing the data? And wouldn’t a “SCARE” like this serve to open the tax slave (er PAYER) money sigot for them, as another government operation, to piss away on “research” (or whatever)?
Anybody know???
I didn’t think so.
One final thought: Could this just be another of the periodic tests conducted by Deep State leftists who would be more at home in Stalin’s Russia than Trump’s America to see if their century long socialist indoctrination in the GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS has enough of us sufficiently DUMBED DOWN to make their long awaited FINAL PUSH?
Just asking evidence based questions here.

It’s probably possible, but coughing/sneezing is going to disperse it a lot farther and faster. You’d have to be right up in someone’s face to get a virus from them just breathing.

Okay - so no sneezing/coughing on my plane and keep your face six feet away from me, minimum.

Probably good rules of thumb, but I have no idea how planes with the recycled air impacts it all. Seems like I catch a cold every time I fly!

Outside air is brought in through the engine area, warmed or cooled as necessary. Your cold(s) could be from air circulating around the cabin.

It looks like the virus does not mutate like the influenza — so any vaccine / immunity can be longer lasting than usual. See below:
