The immigration lawyers who import H-1B visa workers for U.S. companies are urging President Donald Trumps deputies to extend the expiring work permits for hundreds of thousands of foreign contract workers during the nations unprecedented economic meltdown.
The pleas come after the GOP-majority Senate shut down a push by the Democrat-run House to extend the deadline for many types of expiring visas and work permits. The permits are used by employers to replace Americans in U.S. jobs with hundreds of thousands of foreign contract workers, including H-1B graduates.
If Trumps administration agrees to extend the deadlines, it would prevent Americans from filling the visa workers jobs during the economic recovery.
If the administration does not change the deadline, it would implement Trumps Inauguration Day promise to enforce a Hire American policy and would steer hundreds of thousands of American graduates and blue-collar workers into jobs just before the 2020 election. [ ]
The final package, announced March 25, apparently excluded House language that would have extended the visa deadlines.
The House language was backed by the business groups who have hired the visa workers in place of Americans. But the visa worker programs are deeply unpopular among at least two vital voting blocs Trumps voters and swing-vote college graduates. [ ]
College-trained reporters at the WashingtonPost rarely mention the huge visa worker economy, which includes roughly 900,000 H-1B workers. The newspaper is owned by Jeff Bezons, whose Amazon companies import many college-trained foreign workers via the H-1B and Occupational Practical Training programs.
But the U.S.-India outsourcing economy has lowered American white-collar salaries nationwide and muffled American high-tech innovation by replacing at least 1.5 million American graduates with imported blocs of compliant, legally powerless,Indian and Chinese workers. [

PLEASE, NO! That is as bad as the junk Nancy tried to stuff in that bill. Our workers need their jobs back
Us white collar folks got it in the neck under 0moeba too.
We need to rethink the foreign workforce same as our reliance on foreign manufacturing
Send them home!
Trump promised us this. Wheres the delivery?
I wrote this 15 years ago or so.
I would gladly hammer the nails into these people’s wrists myself.
What could be better for our recovery but to free up jobs filled by temporary AND illegal workers?
If you want to enter this country LEGALLY as a green card holder you are forced to undergo medical exams to prove you aren’t carrying something.
If you come on an H1B there are NO medical screenings and you get to wander the fruited plains for up to six years.
Madness.
Trump will screw us white collars. He did before.
For God sake end H-1B visas NOW!!!!!!!
Deport. Deport. Deport. And their un-American globalist handlers should go with them.
We want AMERICAN workers to get AMERICAN jobs. If the President does not send them home, after all the AMERICAN money we have just given Big Business, then his AMERICA FIRST mantra was a lie.
I bet you if PJDT simply told the “U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services” to not do a thing. No announcements, let the visas expire, send them home. New and pending visas are suspended and void. Everyone needs to re apply.
That will keep the U.S.C.I.S. busy during the roarback.
Barely anyone that matters would even care.
They have loyal employees in Graham, Rubio, Hoeven and many others in R jerseys.
The truth of the matter is that Trump can only afford to have so much economic disruption at any given time.
Hiring American replacements, telling the Indians there to train their replacements ;) and then sending them home WOULD create degrees of disruption while it was unfolding.
I think Trump wants to get past this election before risking that.
H1B bump for later.....
So screw pal.
I’m rooting for the American workers as I’ve seen too many jobs lost to the H-1B folks.
Kill the program. We need our own citizens working.
This is the perfect time to attach a pay premium requirement for the H-1B visa holders. Do that and the problem with cheap workers will take care of itself.
