PA Governor Pivots: Gun Dealers ‘Life Sustaining,’ Can Remain Open (DOH!)

On March 24, 2020, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf (D) augmented his list of “life-sustaining” businesses to include gun dealers, allowing them to remain open as long as they adhere to certain restrictions.

The new language was added under Trade, Transportation, & Utilities, in the subsection Sporting Goods, Hobby, Book, & Music Stores.

It says:

Firearms dealers may operate physical businesses on a limited basis to complete only the portions of a sale/transfer that must be conducted in-person under the law, subject to the following restrictions: 1) all such sale/transfers will be conducted by individual appointment during limited hours only so as to minimize social interactions and congregating of persons; 2) the dealer will comply with social distancing, sanitization of applicable area between appointments, and other mitigation measures to protect its employees and the public.

The Second Amendment Foundation’s (SAF) Alan Gottlieb commented on Wolf’s decision to revisit his list of closed businesses and allow gun stores to remain open, saying, “The Governor was right to reverse himself. This is a huge win.”

On March 24, 2020, Breitbart News reported SAF filed a lawsuit against New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy (D) for requiring the closure of gun stores via his statewide shutdown order. They have more suits planned to fight mandated gun store closures around the country.

Sounds like some of the govs lib pals needed to obtain firearms and made some calls. Just a guess. And, I saw someplace that the LA county sheriff reversed himself as well.

More likely, they knew damn well that this measure would be overturned by a Federal court in a way that would make it impossible for the state to impose ANY restrictions in the future.

For all the leftist politicians PA elects to public office, this is still a place where many school districts close on the opening day of deer hunting season every year.

I believe the NRA also has more members in Pennsylvania than in any other state.

Liquor stores will be next.

Tommy the Commie is starting to realize that his political suicide is well underway.

You see, there's this little thing called the Second Amendment.

It's found in the Constitution.

You are correct about NRA members. There are also more firearms than citizens, and I believe, over a million concealed weapon permits.

I read it was the LA Mayor that reversed his order (Maybe he had the sheriff make the announcement?) but the way I read it... Only because he admitted he did not have the authority to make that decision and that only the governor did...

Our Phoenix mayor declared the restaurants had to close, early last week and then reversed herself for the same reason, saying only the governor had that authority to make that decision.

Somedays somebody has nothing to lose.

TOTALITARIANISM 101...US v THEM...330 MILLION v 535 +++++++

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDbeqj-1XOo

Us and Them
And after all we’re only ordinary men
Me, and you
God only knows it’s not what we would choose to do
Forward he cried from the rear
and the front rank died
And the General sat, as the lines on the map
moved from side to side
Black and Blue
And who knows which is which and who is who
Up and Down
And in the end it’s only round and round and round
Haven’t you heard it’s a battle of words
the poster bearer cried
Listen son, said the man with the gun
There’s room for you inside
Down and Out
It can’t be helped but there’s a lot of it about
With, without
And who’ll deny that’s what the fightings all about
Get out of the way, it’s a busy day
And I’ve got things on my mind
For want of the price of tea and a slice
The old man died

Guns are expensive.

Sales tax collection is essential.

The guy I use as a hauler (farming is his day job) bragged to me that he has 340 guns!

Yes, this is rural Pennsylvania, where folks collect guns like men in Vermont collect stamps.

I know exactly what you are talking about. In my old neighborhood, semi-suburban/semi-rural, it wasn’t uncommon to meet in the middle of the street with a neighbor and show off new hardware. Kids would be out playing, wives in the yard and no one thought twice about it. None of that big city fear of guns. There were easily more guns than people in the neighborhood. And guess what, zero crime.
