U.S. equity markets battled higher Wednesday morning after lawmakers struck a deal on a $2 trillion stimulus measure to provide aid to those most severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The historic relief package will "rush new resources onto the front lines of our nation's health care fight, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said Wednesday. "And it will inject trillions of dollars of cash into the economy as fast as possible to help Americans workers, families, small businesses and industries make it through this disruption and emerge on the other side ready to soar."
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 715 points, or 3.5 percent, in the opening minutes of trading while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite gained 2 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively.

it reversed after the open
for example Goldman traded to 156 and is now 147
The Dow is up only 60 now. Do they really have a deal? Or is this just another case of Nancy Pelosi playing the old Nancy, Charlie Brown and the football trick?
Wonderin’ what the damned Democrats did now! Stocks turned around, and are dropping like a rock.
Lucy had something coming for all those times she yanked the football.
Charlie Brown should have sued for back injuries.

It’s all momentum from yesterday. The stimulus has nothing to do with it.
The move up yesterday was because of the Fed actions that helped the corporate bond market.
Tomorrow is the employment report. Let’s see how the markets react to that.
I think the stimulus news was priced into yesterday’s market in anticipation of a deal. Slight rally this morning with some people jumping back in thinking everything is fine driving the market up for literally minutes.
Who knows what the day holds though.
Ohhhh, that's gonna hurt.
I got out at the end of the day yesterday. I’ve had enough and expect the markets to resume their drop soon.
Yeah, it’s nothing but a rollercoaster with the general trend line moving down in elevation.
And Friday is consumer sentiment.
Everyone knows it is going to be crappy. The only reaction will be if it is better or worse than expected plus profit taking from yesterday’s very good day and today’s (probable) very flat day of +/- 200 Dow points.
In the red now, but it’s early in the day
I’m looking for the first multi session relief rally instead of these day long spikes to jump in briefly.
There is always a chance of revisiting the lows, and we’re still not certain the low is in...
There will be a period of ziggity-zaggity rallies, because people who guessed their way in a bit early will be unloading to break even, then they'll be back for more punishment. Don't ask how I know. :^).
For a fat guy he packs a badass roundhouse kick
I Hate myself for watching and LOL so often at such a liberal show.
But it is sometimes just hysterical.
Just for kicks I bought a little EFA in a small brokerage acct (-$500)
Never know when that relief rally will.come...
“ROAD HOUSE!”
