The dosage is important.

Sarcasm deficiency is as debilitating as overdosing.

There are numerous examples of Covid-19 cases being reported in the community Dr. Zelenko serves. He is likely to have plenty of actual cases under his care, and it is likely that a high percentage of Kiryas Joel residents have been infected.

"The Satmar Rebbe has been diagnosed with coronavirus, Kikar Hashabbat reported."

"It is believed that he contracted the disease from one of the sextons working with him."

In another Orthodox Jewish community in New York:

"More than a hundred people who were tested in Boro Park on Monday have coronavirus, an urgent care clinic confirmed."

As an experiment it stinks, although you might get some retrospective data from antibodies, if his records are reliable and if the patients cooperate.

I can't disagree with you there. At this point I'm piling whatever "successes" I see into a stack of "anecdotal evidence". I don't have a "failures" stack yet.

Other than people eating fish tablets, I'm still waiting to see somebody who claims they treated a COVID+ patient with these Rx, but saw the patient go markedly downhill afterwards. I'm not saying there aren't any, but I feel like the media would be eager to report them if there were.

However, it can be a cure (meaning stopping the replicase of the virus in the cell).

It's not touted as a cure or explained as a "stop-all" against CV replication, only that it works to utilize Zinc more effectively in slowing the viral load.

Harsh words.

He’s being more pro-active in addressing the problem than anyone else is, and he has good reason.

He said he’s tested over 200 people in his community and 65% of the tests came back positive. That essentially means most of his entire community of 35,000 has probably been exposed. Some of them are probably resistant and some remain unexposed, but not a large percentage. But that large a sample means that if someone comes in with symptoms, he probably has contracted the virus. So he treats them. Makes sense to me. (Note: I am assuming that he’s talking about testing a somewhat random sample here, and not just people who come in with symptoms and I’m assuming that because he should know that he can’t extrapolate tests on his sick patients to the entire community. I could be wrong though.)

He’s also added zinc to the protocol, which from what I’ve read is a good idea.

I think it’s fair to assume that well over half the people he’s treated, and probably closer to 90% of them, have CoVid-19. The fact (assuming he’s being truthful) that none of them have progressed to ventilators is nothing short of amazing, but he’s saying even more that that. Out of 500 patients treated he’s had zero hospitalizations! Even if he’s exaggerating by leaving out a dozen or so, that’s still a fantastic result.

In short, ignoring his story, or brushing him off without checking the facts is more than a bit silly. If there are big holes in his story, they’ll be obvious soon enough. If we had a functioning news media today, we’d know the facts by the evening news because they’d have been all over it and we’d know exactly how his patients were doing, with first hand reports, etc. (Yes, despite HIPPA). But we don’t, so we have to wait for the truth to come out in dribs and drabs, if ever.

I don’t believe it’s true. If it was, Pelosi and Democraps would be screaming bloody hell to ban it.

No, but he talks like a blow hard and this reduces his credibility in my mind.

It’s a very good idea to try to treat people to prevent severe illness. Many have considered it. If hydroxychloroquine is scarce, it is less so than ventilators.

If you can test 200 people as a random sample, you can test all your treated patients, even if you start treatment before results are returned. Treating before results should depend on time to get results and severity/progression of signs and symptoms.

If he is going to use limited resources, he has at the very least an obligation to other people, to collect data which would benefit the greater community.

I watched a three-minute video and didn’t get “blowhard” out of it at all. Different than the people I associate with, sure, but not a blowhard, of which we do have a few around here.

Besides, if he’s getting the results he says he’s getting, and interpreting them correctly, he’s plenty entitled to blow his own horn, and as loud and long as he wants.

President Trump said this treatment could be a “game changer” and he said it what, four days or so ago. This doctor could be confirming exactly that.

Which is why you’ll never see his face on CNN.

To put the good doctor’s results in perspective, here’s a statistic from an article on the illness in New York:

“So far, in Gotham, one of every four people with a confirmed case has been hospitalized, and 44 percent of them have needed a ventilator.”

If Dr. Zelenko has seen 500 patients and, say, 400 of them actually had the virus, he’s saved 100 hospitalizations and freed up 44 ventilators (or kept 44 people from dying without access to one, depending on availability.)

I’m sure after 2 years of clinical trials and multiple Environmental Impact Statements, the FDA will get around to assessing this application.

“Enter hydroxychloroquine - it acts as a “zinc ionophore”.
This means hydroxychloroquine is able to create a zinc gateway into cells.”

You might be able to get zinc past the cell membrane with natural ionophores: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/jf5014633

If this keeps up, the MSM will be claiming that PDJT never recommended the drug, even though he did. That’ll be fun.

They'll say Biden would have recommended it sooner. :)

This news is days old! Shouldn’t the number be climbing every day? Where are the rest of the people? Did they stop treating people?

There are actually people on FR today arguing that this drug is inherently dangerous because chloroquine phosphate is the active ingredient in fish-tank cleaner, and fish-tank cleaner is lethal when ingested by humans. Unbelievable.

“A physician in New York...”

Sean Hannity read the letter from the NY doctor to President Trump last evening. President Trump said people at the NIH are researching the doctor’s solution and said he hopes to get a cure soon.

That was the first ten minutes of Sean Hannity I have seen in ten years. Just flipping the channels after Adam 12 reruns.
