I’ll expect the same 200 people to smash away at him like they do blue state governors who have made this decision.
But I won’t hold my breath :)
That being said, now that more R governors are doing it, I’m more prone to believe they are getting information we don’t and this is the prudent thing to do.

Since they have so few cases, it’s actually good they’re being so proactive early on in their states mess.

I suspect a lot of the travel bans in states like Indiana and West Virginia are really aimed at keeping outsiders from fleeing there from places like New York, Maryland and Illinois. I'm guessing that if you are seen driving on a highway in West Virginia with a West Virginia license plate on your vehicle, then nobody will bother you. But if you have a Maryland license plate, than you're more likely to be pulled over and questioned.
I live in Maine.

I definitely believe that they can and do withhold information from the public, but the main inference I would have here is that it’s simply much more widespread than is being reported, but they cannot verify it because of the lack of testing. If that’s true, I don’t understand why they don’t just say so. It would encourage more people to observe the distancing and sheltering directives.
Do they think people are really going to panic?
I just don’t see it.
I just checked and saw that the population of West Virginia is 92% white and about 0.7% Asian. I’m sure that’s one big reason why they don’t have a China Virus problem. :-)

What they should do or should have been doing is waiting at the border to tun back any cars with NY or NJ plates.
Local LE can tell cars with these plates to move along.
