Surgeon General Jerome Adams on Monday reiterated an urgent call for Americans to follow recommendations to stay at home in order to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
“I want America to understand this week it's going to get bad,” Adams said Monday in an appearance on NBC’s “Today Show.”
Adams said people that are still not following recommendations and going outside for unnecessary reasons is leading to the spread of the virus. He called out people going to beaches and the crowds looking at the Cherry Blossoms in D.C.
“I think there are a lot of people that are doing the right things, I think unfortunately we’re finding out a lot of people think this can't happen to them,” he said.

According to the Surgeon General this week will show us whether this virus is a major event or a minor bump in the road.
I would phrase it differently, but he’s not wrong.
The media will insure that it is a major event.

And even if they “think it can happen to them” and are at home and not work, they still get to stand in crowded lines at stores. And, they mingle with multiple crowds trying to find what they need.
If the SG is expecting a bad week, its from spread already occurring before any kind of quarantine, but the “quarantine” we have may not do much to stop it.

However, first it has to peak in each market. And this week may be the peak for places like New York.
I honestly wish they would report this virus by country and see the 50 states in the US as countries, like they do with the EU. North Dakota is not New York. The stats are grossly different between the two just as they are between Italy and Belgium.

You're not just wrong but dead wrong. This thing has gone worldwide in just 3 months DESPITE every country in the world taking draconian actions to slow it down. Despite every country in the world crashing their economy to slow it down. In places where no real effort was taken to slow it down it rips though the population like wildfire. It's infection rate is such that many estimate that every person infected will infect an average of 2-4 more people.
So no, it's NOT a slow virus at all.
