An 88-year-old Holocaust survivor suffering from coronavirus reportedly became the first person in Israel to die from the illness.
Arie Even, who immigrated to Israel from Hungary in 1949, contracted the virus while staying in an assisted living facility where several of the residents have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Haaretz.
He was a beloved and dear man, lived a full life, was dedicated to his family, and showed strength until his very last moments, his son said in a statement to the newspaper.

I’m glad he led a full life but still it’s sad to survive the holocaust and be cut down in death in a lousy way.
Hoping he didn’t suffer too much.
Incredible that a man could suffer the horrors of a concentration camp and the holocaust as a child, immigrate to Israel and ultimately die at the hands of a virus..
I suppose in the long history of mankind, more have probably died from infections than anything else.
I hate to break it to you, folks, but each of us will die of something. We are granted “three score & ten” (70 years, for the Rio Linda crowd). Anything more is ‘gravy’.
At 88 years old, there are usually lots of things that could be listed as ‘Cause of Death’.
COVID-19 simply gives each of us a wake-up call to get our affairs in order, make sure we know where we will spend Eternity and then get on with life.
