McConnell rips Democrats for blocking coronavirus stimulus package
The Hill ^ | 3/22/2020 | JORDAIN CARNEY

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) ripped Democrats for blocking a mammoth stimulus package from advancing on Sunday, accusing them of a "spectacle" and "playing games" with the economy.

"I want everybody to fully understand if we aren't able to act tomorrow, it will because of our colleagues on the other side continuing to dither when the country expects us to come together and address this problem," he said from the Senate floor.

McConnell noted that during the vote the stock futures dropped five percent, adding that "the notion that we have time to play games here with the American economy and the American people is utterly absurd."

Democrats blocked the Senate from advancing a "shell" bill, which the mammoth stimulus legislation was expected to be swapped into, arguing that there were a host of unresolved issues that made it a "non-starter" for Senate Democrats.

"So who is being partisan? He knows darn well that for this bill to pass, it needs both Democratic and Republican support," Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said.

McConnell, at Schumer's request delayed the procedural vote, where three-fifths support was needed. But Schumer said the legislation "has not improved enough in the past three hours to earn the necessary votes to proceed."

"The bill can, and must, continue to improve. We’re closer than we’ve been at any time over the past forty-eight hours to an agreement, but there are still too many problems in the proposed legislation," Schumer said.

A senior Democratic aide pointed out nine "major problems" with the Senate bill as drafted, and noted that it was "not an exhaustive list."

Live pairing was used a few short years ago, IIRC. Can’t recall ecactly why. I can’t imagine any RAT agreeing to this under these circumstances. I don’t know how long it takes them to connect with their leader, Satan, to get further instructions.

*** I do NOT trust Fauci ***

Me either...especially after watching Fauci's 09/2009 video about the H1N1 vs The Flu.
Replace H1N1 with COVID-19 and it would be the same dissertation...
something stinks.

Political parties and association of politicans in groups must be outlawed. Lobbiest need to be outlawed and banished from existance.

She demands her pork.

McConnell said that she injected herself to the discussion and that we don’t have or need a speaker of the Senate.

I may be slammed I know. I say no bill. Let’s see what Americans do after two weeks. Printing more money is putting off a depression. Maybe then this will be treated as previous outbreaks. So whatever package pacifies for how long? Been around 65 years and front line provider in this and see something smells here.

I can only imagine the lard these Rats are loading up in that bill.

Remember how they were clamoring for “clean” bills during the Obama years? Now they want them loaded up with tons of pork, even in a time of national emergency.

No one should get a check if they have not suffered financial hardship. Giving everyone a check is STUPID! People on welfare don’t lose money. People on SSI don’t lose money. Millionaires can afford to lose money. NO, relief should only go to WORKERS who have been laid off. I don’t see anyone else that could possibly suffer financially.

Great post, but I would include small business owners too. They do not have the same resources as big corporations and need our help too.

So is Mitch. This bill is just another giveaway to Mitch’s corporate buddies, no different than 0bummer bailing out Detroit. $500 billion to airlines and other corporations and as far as I can see no guarantee it will not be used for stock buybacks. I’m fed up with the GOPe bailing out their rich buddies then turning around with a smirk and asking, “What are you going to do? Vote Democratic?”.

Here’s hoping Yertle gets it right this time.
