Dissecting Germany's Low Coronavirus Death Rate
The Jakarta Post ^ | Fri, March 20, 2020

Despite being among the countries hardest hit by the pandemic, Germany has recorded an astonishingly low number of deaths in comparison to its European neighbors.

The latest official figures published by the disease control agency Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Thursday showed 10,999 confirmed infections, 20 of whom had died.

That is a mortality rate of just 0.18 percent, significantly lower than that of China (4 percent), Britain (3.9 percent), France (2.9 percent) and Italy (8.3 percent).

Any country that calls Muslims “Asians” is capable of misrepresentation in other areas.

They are Asians. They come from the continent of Asia.

That is the case fatality rate, not the mortality rate. That's a fundamental error by the author.

Indeed. So many people are using the CFR to scare people and governments are doing nothing to try to figure out the true death rate. Almost makes you wonder

I suspect the widespread testing makes difference. Also the Germans are disciplined people. If you said them how you should behave to reduce risks most would follow it to the letter.

Most of the Arabic world is technically Western Asia.

Also the Germans are disciplined people.

They were disciplined by the SS back in the 40's.

Agreed. All countries inflate or deflate numbers to make them look good. I never trust any number coming from a government agency. It invariably is bias are skewed in a direction to hide government inaction or incompetence.

Just look at the entire idea behind government calculated unemployment numbers. Someone long ago decided to not count unemployed people who ‘decided’ to stop looking for a job as being part of the unemployed. Talk about gaming statistics.

Not sure I understand.

Does the .18% represent the number dead as percent of total known cases?

Correct. They will literally stand for 15 minutes at a deserted intersection with a broken crosswalk light stuck at “Don’t Walk”, then walk the other way instead of taking their chance jaywalking.

Like the South Koreans and Japanese, the Germans have a culture of obeying the government.

Germans also have a deep respect for PhDs and Doctors.

“Expert Opinion” is put on a pedestal.

Americans are sceptical of what the pinheads have to say.

While true, that has nothing to do with the actual death rate. Obeying the governments and respecting phds does not help you once you contract the virus. The reason the German death rate is lower is broader testing and an infection rate that more closely mirrors the overall population rather than skewing significantly towards the elderly

German’s are apparently very good at washing their hands and bathing alone.

If you wash your hands and stop sticking your fingers in orifices and, you avoid public baths you’ll likely survive this virus. If you can’t do that then you are doomed.

What do Italian’s, Iranians and Spaniards all have in common? Pubic bathing and spas and they don’t was their hands very much.

why post these pieces? everything is conjecture.

there is NO RELIABLE DATA. the best anyone can say is per capita fatalities.

therefore, rounding off today’s numbers:

China 1.3bn 3,261
Italy 60m 4,825
USA 327m 348
Spain 46m 1,381
Germany 82m 84
Iran 83m 1,556
France 66m 562
South Korea 51m 104
UK 66m 233
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries

22 Mar: Worldometer: Coronavirus Death Toll
13,071 deaths
The fatality rate is still being assessed.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-death-toll/

going beyond the above is not possible, so stop getting caught up in the frenzy.

They seem to believe in sacrificing for the common good far more than the undisciplined melting pot filling my local supermarket.

It is no accident that the areas worst hit in the US are those where the WASPs fled decades ago (and I’m not a WASP).

In fact public baths are a bigger thing in Germany comparing to all of the above. In Spain it is an ethnic Arab thing, in Italy a rare historical exotic fetish. More popular in Iran like a place to have some business meeting or a reunion but for the Germans it is a sort of a must.
But they like cleanliness above the rest too.

It is most certainly part of the reason.

Respecting the rules means that Germans at high risk are volunteering to be tested and Germans at low risk are not overwhelming testing centers.

Germany is identifying proportionately more asymptomatic or mild symptoms patients as a result. Lowering the death rate.

Yes, that is true. All Muslims are from Asia. There are no Muslims who are not from Asia.

The millions of Muslims to be found, e.g., on the continent of Africa are thus not really Muslims.
