French authorities impounded two lorries carrying some 130,000 masks to health workers in Britain’s embattled hospitals, following President Emmanuel Macron’s pledge to “requisition” all stocks in his territory.
The move followed hot on the heels of French border guards seizing another heavy goods vehicle carrying hand sanitiser to Britain the day before. The incidents triggered a diplomatic spat between the two countries as Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) struggles against the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.

Well, other than the last 150 years, the French and English have been at war for over 1,000 years. A return to ‘the good old days’, I guess!

For what it is worth, the UK death rate for confirmed cases is 4.3%. The US death rate for confirmed cases is 1.2%. In Canada, the death rate is about the same as ours.
Germany gas been holding back shipments to Switzerland as well. Mind you, these are shipments from outside the EU destined for Switzerland via Customs Free agreements (i.e. Passing through).
During the Cold War (and thereafter) all kinds of shipments were made this way (so called TIR). Now, suddenly, all agreements are off.
Ok.....hypothetical.....if something similar was say traveling through the US from Mexico to Canada would it be ok to seize the truck?

Looks like the French are no longer thankful that the Allies saved their butts during WW2. If there was any good will left Brexit probably ended it.

I know a guy that had at a minimum of 500k in silver held away. Well, after various bank mergers...the silver in the vault is missing. I helped him track it down but he never got a lawyer to file suit for it.

Hopefully this will make people wake up to the dangers of letting other countries take over entire industries. We shouldn’t have to rely on China for life saving drugs. It’s time to bring production jobs back to America. That’s the first thing we should demand from our government.

How awful and racist of Trump to be saying “America First” when it comes to issues of national interest, but it’s totally okay for Macron to play dictator and seize (steal) for France’s interests first?
I’m from Sweden. They subsidize farming there, with the reason being that in case war breaks out, you MUST be able to feed your army and people. They also, until recently, had a mandatory draft for 1 year.
