While many watched the coronavirus spread across the globe with disinterest for months, in the last week, most of us have finally realized it will disrupt our way of life. A recent (analysis from Imperial College) is now making some Americans, (including many experts, panic.) The report projects that (2.2 million people) could die in the United States. But the analysis also provides reason for hopesuggesting a path forward to avoid the worst outcomes.
We can make things better; its not too late. But we have to be willing to act.
(Polly J. Price: How a fragmented country fights a pandemic)
Lets start with the bad news. The Imperial College response teams (report) looked at the impact of measures we might take to flatten the curve, or reduce the rate at which people are becoming sick with COVID-19. If we do nothing and just let the virus run its course, the team predicts, we could see three times as many deaths as we see (from cardiovascular disease) each year. Further, it estimated that infections would peak in mid-June. We could expect to see about 55,000 deaths, in just one day.

Delingpole: Chloroquine Known as Effective Against Coronavirus Since 2005. It is now a generic drug and no longer useful to big Pharma.
I’ll take a look, but the Atlantic is usually not reliable on anything even vaguely political.
I disagree. The Atlantic is a generally great contrarian resource for “do the opposite of what they say.”
“To achieve this, we need to test many, many people, even those without symptoms. Testing will allow us to isolate the infected so they cant infect others. We need to be vigilant, and willing to quarantine people with absolute diligence.”
Yes.
This article is alright.
Not political.
Good read. Hopeful, but realistic.
We need to quarantine New York City.
It’s our Wuhan, our Milan, our Daegu.
Burning down The Atlantic with everyone who works there still inside would go a long way toward that goal.
Lol. True.
No. If it's so damned important why didn't you post the whole thing?
ifinnegan & McGee I have looked at half a dozen CNN headlines, they are all skewed to the left. The Atlantic article seems solid.
“why didn’t you post the whole thing?”

Can the drug be dispensed as a prophylactic against the virus even to those without the symptoms? If so,let’s make it available to those in isolation so that they can go back to work.
“While many watched the coronavirus spread across the globe with disinterest for months...”
For months????
Let’ see. The Chinese government kept it hid for six weeks, until January, and in a short time Trump acted.
However, who do you think he is referring to with that statement?

For people who have not had a chance to read it...
The Atlantic must be excerpted....
Why isn’t using the antibody-laden serum from infected people who have recovered the answer? What a vaccine does in stimulate your body to produce antibodies against the virus. Serum from a patient does the exact same thing. What am I missing?
Yes, the notion that President Trump was shamefully late in facing the virus, as strategically planted early on by the Dems, has widely taken hold far and wide. Just like his “well-known” Russian connections.
