The feds have PLENTY of options for ‘helping to encourage’ governors and others to go along with a full lockdown, simply due to the size of the federal budget. So, for starters, they could threaten to withhold money to ‘the schools’, and also highway money. The list is practically endless, although it does require both Congressional support and support of the Courts - but I don’t see either being a problem here.

I think the definition of flubro has changed. I was sick of being called a flubro for saying the whole thing is overblown. It sounds like flubro’s word origin involved it having the opposite definition at one time, based on your comment.
So to summarize - a flubro realizes this is overblown from a medical/death perspective. A flubro can, however, be worried about government overreach at this time.
This is rich. Cuomo's hair has been on fire for at least a couple of weeks, which absolutely has created panic in a certain sector of the population (which shall go unnamed here).
They have the obdurate ability to say that China is overreacting, South Korea is overreacting, Japan is overreacting, Singapore is overreacting, [country xxxx] is overreacting, and any anyone who isn't totally focused on how much worse this season's regular flu is, or how many more die in traffic accidents, of of abortions, or drowning, or malaria, or ______, is a total idiot, and we should do absolutely nothing about the Wuhan virus except let it scythe through our country unimpeded.
It would be good for the economy to get rid of the elderly useless eaters, after all.
They also believe that all these above named countries, and so many more, are in a vast planetary conspiracy and are destroying their own economies, just to get rid of the bad orange man!

I know a stunted economy will kill more people than this virus. I just won’t be able to name the victims - those who, for example, die because medical advances aren’t made due to the economy getting weaker.

China demolished their economy, welded the residents into their high rise apartment buildings, and obliterated their future ability to get control of all the war materials manufacturing on Earth.
Although I assume Haaavaaad MBAs will still think shipping all manufacturing to China will make this quarter's shareholder look good...
It’ll never happen. But we all discussed this way back. Just like stopping planes and ships were discussed way back didn’t happen. Just like shutting down the spring break partiers didn’t happen. Peopled died. People will still be dying of CV this time next year because it’ll keep circling the globe.

The reaction on this board has soured me.
This isn’t a game. This isn’t politics. This isn’t about crashing the stock market (which for all intents and purposes, is crashed).
We are trying to see if there is a possibility what we call civilization and survive a plague. Right now I am betting the under. Decades of just in time and grasshopper has a population that goes to the beach when begged to stay home.That loots grocery stores when given special shopping hours (the “elderly and at risk” shopping hours at local stores resulted in those same elderly selling TP and hamburger out of the back of the car).
Hell, I am half convinced by this time next week we will not have functional plumbing in major cities.
But it is all a plot to get rid of orangeman, who just had his highest approval rating in a while.
