New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered non-essential businesses to keep 100% of their workforce at home to try to contain the fast-spreading COVID-19 outbreak across the state. “This is the most drastic action we can take,” Cuomo said Friday.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has been pushing Cuomo to issue a shelter-in-place order for New York City, where cases skyrocketed by more than 1,000 over a matter of hours on Thursday and the state has the worst outbreak in the U.S. with more than 5,700 confirmed cases — more than half of which are concentrated in New York City.

Government is non-essential. We simply need to abolish government at this point. It serves only to harm us.
These numbers change rapidly because the tests are done in “groups” and submitted. But we don’t know if the sick folks are at day 1 or at day 10.
His essential ain’t necessarily MY essential. Guess I won’t go to new yuck. Sad what the progs have done and allowed to be done to that once great state. Where my kin started out in the early 1600’s.

Typical of commie Mayor de Blah Blah Blah. There is nothing that can stop him from issuing the order for New York City, regardless of how long it takes the state to do the same. But, being the good party apparachik he is, he deferred to the Politburo heads in Albany. This man is the punch line to the old joke that "if you thought I'm bad (Doom and Gloomberg), here's someone even WORSE!"
Most of the SF Bay Area and I think LA has been under the order all week thanks to municipal and county government. Governor Gruesome didn't extend it to the entire state until last night, after long discussions with Aunt Nancy, apparently.
I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of the end of this country. It has been stunning to watch the complete capitulation of the public to the stripping of our liberties and freedom all because of an overreaction to a virus. If they have done it now they will do it again. In 10 years we will have gone full socialist and many will not have a problem with it, including several on this site.
The democrat governors who have shut down their states are well aware of this.
They are quite willing to destroy the economy and wreak havoc to get rid of the orange man bad.
They have made the conscious decision to create an economic Hell on Earth, one that they can rule over, rather than serve amid rich peasants.
End of the country ? Don’t be ridiculous...my son a warehouse worker was sent home because a fellow worker tested positive for the virus. As soon as he tests negative he can go back to work....

Before Gavin Newsome tells anyone in his state to surrender even one iota of their freedom and liberty “for public safety,” he ought to hold himself accountable for HIS role in putting these citizens at risk.
My preference would be for him to schedule a media briefing and blow his brains out on national television.
For now, I’d take his resignation as a minimal gesture of his sincerity.
If he’s not going to do either, he can take his restrictive orders and stick them up his ass.
Being sent home is one thing. Shutting down everything and restricting everyone’s personal liberties is another.
Yes and it’s depressing.
My grandson was sent home for 2 days with some symptoms. He went to the ER outside tent triage where he answered a few questions and told he didn't need a test so couldn't get one. Good luck for your son that he can actually get tested so he can work again. Seems even with the publicity of millions of tests being Mfg. weekly by many companies, the hospitals seem to still have a strong stranglehold on who gets them.
I hope they remember to lock their desks. If not. Cuomo will go through them and steal anything of value.
Gavin Newsom does little if anything about the diseases spreading in homeless groups, and allow for defecation in the streets. It’s funny in a way to see people such as him, who ignore disease clusters among certain people, to react so strongly to this virus.
Media is exempted.
Go figure.
