San Fran DA drops hate-crime charges against black man in name of 'restorative justice' Attacker beat victim, 68, while shouting 'I hate Asians'

Charges against a 20-year-old man who was accused of a hate crime in connection with the beating of an elderly Asian victim were withdrawn as part of a “restorative justice” effort by prosecutors in the case.

San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin made the decision on March 2 in the case against Dwayne Grayson, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Boudin, who was described in a Jacobin profile last year as a “socialist and the child of revolutionaries,” campaigned heavily on a progressive vision of criminal justice reform during the district attorney race.

Grayson was initially charged with robbery, elder abuse, a hate crime charge and probation violation, but Boudin said he changed his mind and pulled back the charges after speaking with the unnamed 68-year-old victim, who “expressed interest in a restorative justice outcome.”

Restorative justice focuses on the rehabilitation of offenders through reconciliation with victims and often takes place outside the legal system.

Hate is the motive, not the crime.

Well, apparently the victim was ‘interested’ (or was told he was) in restorative justice so.....................

Right, I’m sure the terrified victim, who must continue to live where he lives, wholeheartedly did thus. Boudin is a piece of human excrement!

Somehow I think the knuckle-dragger didn’t use the word, “Asians”. The dirtbag belongs in a cage.

But Trump is an anti-Asian racist for calling it Chinese Flu.

We’re totally thru the looking glass here.

Socialist decision, now enshrined as a legal precedent.

Swap the races a bit: would hate crime charges against a White European Male be dropped? Hardly.

Black-on-white? Discuss.

“but Boudin said he changed his mind and pulled back the charges after speaking with the unnamed 68-year-old victim, who “expressed interest in a restorative justice outcome.” “

If the victim is of sound mind and wasn’t coerced, then that’s his decision.

From the article: ““We don’t tolerate this type of behavior in our city.”

Another progressive lie.

Enough of this and the 'Restorative' part will turn into street justice.

I disagree with the enhancement of “hate crime” in any charge but nonetheless, I deplore this RJ crap. Best RJ in this case is to release the POS onto a shooting range and tell those present, have at it. Trial by ordeal. If he lasts 10 minutes, he is free to go.

a 20-year-old man ... beating of an elderly Asian victim

This DA is not "restoring" justice, she's usurping justice. Although "hate" laws are inane and should be eliminated, in effect she's saying beating up people according to their race is no big deal.

Note no mention of the perp's race, yet the victim's race is identified.

Blacks love beating up on Asians. So far I’ve seen 4 or 5 stories and videos of this. Those who say Trump is inciting violence against Asians by saying Chinese virus should explain why it’s all been blacks attacking Asians. Are they all Trump supporters?

Eagerly awaiting George Takei and Daniel Dae Kim to come out and condemn this as supporting racism and condoning hate.

I won’t hold my breath.
