It’s not flippant. I have been wondering about this as well. I also wonder if these day-by-day, country-by-country stats are available for previous pandemics. Maybe the panic is being fomented by a new way to keep track of and publicize all this data.

. I am very concerned that the panic is being helped along by a mathematical model coming from London. Global cooling in the 70’s and global warming in the 90’s were pushed upon the gullible by mathematical models.
