More than 99% of Italys coronavirus fatalities were people who suffered from previous medical conditions, according to a study by the countrys national health authority.
After deaths from the virus reached more than 2,500, with a 150% increase in the past week, health authorities have been combing through data to provide clues to help combat the spread of the disease.
Prime Minister Giuseppe Contes government is evaluating whether to extend a nationwide lockdown beyond the beginning of April, daily La Stampa reported Wednesday. Italy has more than 31,500 confirmed cases of the illness.

I really wish the article would define “previous medical conditions.”
Leukemia?
High blood pressure?
Dental plaque?
3 lbs overweight?
bronchitis 20 years ago?
the media has portrayed it as old age in italy.
I’m guessing emphysema or COPD since this is a pulmonary infection.
Here’s a link with a link to the report.

How’s your Italian?
I’ll give it a shot: Diabetes, kidney insufficency, atrial fibrilation, heart disease, cancer, hypertension.
In no particular order.
I forgot to ado dementia.
Diabetes, heart disease, COPD, and cancer are the big ones.
Dandruff. Lots of dandruff. And halitosis too.
That really ticks me off, too. Why can’t they give some stats on underlying medical conditions? X% had diabetes, Y% had hypertension, Z% had cancer, etc.
I really wish the article would define previous medical conditions.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Me too! I read that high blood pressure medications that are ace inhibitors can make things worse and that being type A blood will make you more likely to acquire the virus. Also, if you are extremely over weight can contribute. I wish they were more specific.
From the article:
“More than 75% had high blood pressure, about 35% had diabetes and a third suffered from heart disease.
Indeed.Casual empiricism leads me to think one chronic disease, Type II diabetes, is far more prevalent in the US than in Italy.
Hey, whatsamatta you? You racist?
Pretty much everything is a “previous medical condition” now.
And, suddenly, age 50-something is “elderly.”
Anything to calm the fears of people who want to believe this virus is no threat. So, they can tell themselves, “These people were going to die anyway.”
Breitbart had an article on the top ‘pre-existing’ conditions of deaths.
-Over 60
-Diabetes
-Coronary Artery Disease
-High Blood pressure
-A-Fibrillation
Did you deBlasio’s presser this afternoon?
Kaiser Wilhelm had the high risk age starting at 50.
Life is a hereditary terminal disease. Does that count?
I think 90% of America’s youth now graduate high school diagnosed with something.
By the time our citizens become seasoned, they take medicine for, what, an average of 6 conditions?
