CANTON, Mich. (WXYZ) Canton police say a person was attempting to sell toilet tissue at $60 a case in a parking lot.
The incident happened Wednesday morning in a Meijer's parking lot. This example of price gouging comes after Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an order for tougher restrictions on businesses trying to price gouge shoppers during the coronavirus outbreak.
The man who capture video of the absorbently priced tissue sale said he posted the image to social media were it was shared over 1000 times.
Mike Arcuragi, the man who took the photo, says its ridiculous people are trying to take advantage of others in a time when people need to be helping one another.
"I just wish people would calm down and quit hoarding and lets live life, well get over this," he said.

It's unclear at this time what repercussions, if any, the person faced.
Yet the Yeti, Nessie, big eyed aliens and bigger footted creatures allude us still.
I flagged a post on our neighborhood website for a guy selling individual N95 masks for $5 a piece. What irked me was that he was ethnic Chinese. The mods removed his post.
It has been pointed out that an antibacterial has no effect on a virus.
Ordinary soap actually washes the hands and removes all sorts of stuff including any virus that happens to be there
Cant spare a square
This thread could be its very own economics lesson.
If course they don’t reach economics. Because it makes sense and lib teachers don’t like that.
A case has 96 rolls, 2ply. ...bulk supply cost $46/case. ..
Walmart. ...$1.25 per roll on average.
I fully appreciate all that’s being said here about the free market and pricing signals.
That being said.....
If somebody had tried this in the middle of WW II rationing some American would have shot him.
It has also been pointed out that washing with regular hand soap breaks the virus up because of soap’s effect on the fatty/oily portions of the virus (or sumpin like dat)...the antibacterial part is just a lagniappe.
Eww, I will never understand that some people have to text or talk on the phone while doing their human urinating and defacating business.
A box of this stuff from Sam’s goes for $50 (80 rolls, ~4900 sq.ft). Wonder if that’s what he’s calling a “case.”
I hope someone kicks his azz.
Good for him if he can find customers. And good for the customers who scored. Win/win.
They are probably the one’s spreading diseases around.
He’ll let you wipe his ass on the hardtop but that will cost $75.
Actually, people did a huge amount of that during WWII where there was real rationing of specific items and penalties against black market activities, but...most black marketeers weren’t stupid enough to advertise it with signs in a parking lot. But people knew where to go.
Accounts from that time are replete with otherwise law abiding citizens who got sugar for a cake to serve when during a welcome home party and such.
In this case, I don’t think there is any restriction on selling toilet paper for whatever price he thinks he can get. (I admit I could be wrong on that, I haven’t been following that aspect of this very closely)
LOL, absorbitantly priced for wipe out ... arrested for exhorbitant pricing.
Because in tough times Americans are supposed to stick together, not take total advantage of each other. Any greedy azzhole to can that.
We have enough azzholes already. I hope they arrest this jackball for selling crap and being greedy in someone else’s parking lot. If he wants to go sell it in front of his house, in front of all his own neighbors, I have no problem with that.
