Biopharma companies have scrambled to start new R&D projects and repurpose existing medicines amid the COVID-19 crisis. Now, Bayer is getting ready to donate an older treatment to the U.S. government for potential use, Axios reports.
The company is preparing a large donation of malaria medicine chloroquine, the publication reports, citing a senior HHS official and another unnamed source. The drug is decades old and available for cheap.
A Bayer representative didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

is it old stock because FDA banned it from certain use...if this is like quinine. Fda banned it from being used for leg cramps, etc.
Danke Schoen
I saw a report this morning that tried it o n some infected volunteers and thin 6 days they achieved 100% cure. The media isn’t giving this much play, but it certainly has promise.
One of the side effects is that it gives you the shiats so maybe that is why people were hording toilet paper?
Looks like you’d want to take it along with supplimenting zinc.
Until there is an actual vaccine (which could be a LONG time off) anti-virals are really going to help tamp down heavier infections
Boy, if this works...it would be a God send.
The FDA would ban milk if they could.
I posted an article from a guy who has had really bad pain from this ..like 15 on the scale of 1 to 10.
He said buying toilet paper is ridiculous..because you cant even get up to go to the bathroom.
Hmmm...this may be the perfect place for my question.
Is anyone working on a “Hitler” coronavirus episode?
Laura Ingraham had a guest on her show earlier this week that lead a small controlled group experiment with 60 Wuhan Chinese flu victims who were all hospitalized with severe symptoms.
30 were given the drug. 30 were given placeboes. The 30 given the drug began showing immediate easing of symptoms and were cured within several days.
The others were subsequently given the drug and he said they began to recover as well.
tonic water
“Fda banned it from being used for leg cramps.”
The FDA banned all but APPROVED Quinine (Qualaquin) drugs for leg cramps.
BTW, since I’ve gotten older I get vicious night leg cramps in the middle of the night. I keep a six pack of Tonic water in the Master bathroom. Two or three small swigs of Tonic water and the leg cramps are instantly gone.
Amazing stuff that Quinine.
I agree. I have a small stash of quinine pills for leg cramps (worked great!) and also tonic water as well. I understand people are buying up the tonic water like crazy, just like PT. In the end I figured out my leg cramps were from too much magnesium/calcium and when I reduced those supplements they went away so I have a stash. Nice to know it might come in handy for the virus.
If you can drink 16 gallons per day
Some people will try it ,LOL
Don’t forget the Gin or Vodka
