American adults of all ages not just those in their 70s, 80s and 90s are being seriously sickened by the coronavirus, according to a report on nearly 2,500 of the first recorded cases in the United States.
The report, issued Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, found that as in other countries the oldest patients had the greatest likelihood of dying and of being hospitalized.
But of the 508 patients known to have been hospitalized, 38 percent were notably younger between 20 and 54. And nearly half of the 121 patients who were admitted to intensive care units were adults under 65, the C.D.C. reported.

CDC analysis shows coronavirus poses serious risk for younger people

“1 in 5 people between the ages of 20 and 44 who contract the virus require hospitalization”
Hyperbole alert, no one has said that 80 years old is the cutoff
There are other health related conditions that factor into this
Put up facts and sources or stop posting nonsense
They may be a higher risk due to age and health in general at that age but it is not a hard boundary
.......and vote RAT because Orange Man can't handle the crisis.
Or how many are close to 60. 25-60 is a big difference. I would bet more swing closer to 60 than not.
Also how many are asian or muslim.
20% were aged 2044 yearsIOW, little snowflakes with the flu or a cold.
54 is now classified as younger?
They’ve been calling those 50+ years old “Elderly” for weeks now, implying the danger is confined to those already at death’s doorstep. People have gotten an exaggerated view as to the extent to which that is true.
If the infection totals matched this years estimate of the flu, based on CDC numbers from February and the 2010 Census:
320,000,000
*10% infection rate
32,000,000
Age count CDC chart .. .. Dead
20s 37.3M *0.1% ... ... 3,500
30s 43.2M *0.2% ... ... 9,000
40s 42.5M *0.4% ... ..17,000
50s 31.1M *1.3% ... .. 40,000
60s 20.3M *3.6% ... .. 73,000
70s 16.3M *8.0% .. ...130,000
80+ 9.2M *14 % .. ....128,000
... ... ... ... ... .. 404,000
As you can see, the shift in fatalities towards the elderly is not as strong as is implied. And for working age folk in their 60s is about 60% in numbers from those in their 80s.
The Slimes is pushing out a vomit load of propaganda. This is trying desperately to scare the younger masses who easily scare.
Don’t try to start talking sense....
No one said they were immune.
But if the stats show that a 35 year old has a 99.8% chance of surviving COVID-19... they aren’t going to lose any sleep worrying about it.

Agreed. South Korea has almost leveled off with 91 deaths and over 8500 known cases - 1%. Japan has 29 deaths and 900 cases - 3%.
We should not crash our economy for this. Ramp up the healthcare system testing and prep ICUs just in case, stop foreign travel, and voluntarily quarantine the 70+ crowd until positive tests level off - stop all the other shutdowns now.
Idiot Reporters and journalists yelling fire in a theater. These are the authorities that the people are listening to and believing. The companies need to be threatened with mega lawsuits for their part and irresponsibility of their employees
How many young Americans have died of it? So far, none younger than 50s.
And the majority of those confirmed infected are in their 50s and older. Which either suggests that most younger people aren’t getting tested when they get sick and only show up at the ER when their symptoms are bad, or there really is a bias towards older people by this virus.
We cannot say that 20% of young people are going to hospital because we do not know how many total young people are catching the virus. We are not testing everyone. I know someone on facebook who is in his 30s and has developed a cough (but no fever). He’s called his doctor and the doctor won’t do a COVID-19 test and told him to “just stay home for 2 weeks.” He called the health department too and they refused to do a test too. It’s been a week now and he says the cough is going away, and still no fever. Does he have COVID-19? We will never know.
Are you behind the times? 54 is the new 34.
In any case, this season’s influenza epidemic is killing far more younger folks than WuFlu.
That is relevant because...??
Americans are so lazy they cannot think for themselves.
The disease hits a nursing home and kills elderly. So all of a sudden it just kills old people. Italy has a ton of old people who smoke. Again, it just kills old people.
But, what is killing the system are the not old people who get sick, and stay sick for a long time. They are the patients who will clog the system.
But, we only report on dead folks. Not generally on those who are taking up bed space.
But the journalist dont think of that. They dont ask. They are more interested in what its called.
And as such, lazy Americans who cannot be bothered to think on their own will be surprised when their 45 year old neighbor is laid up for a month because of this.
And there are still so many Americans denying this is even a thing.
So be it. We get what we deserve.
Because its the flu. Except this is not the influenza virus. It is a coronavirus. They are two different things.
But Rush and Trump sang that song, so there are a lot of people who just jump in line and march.
Good for them. Catching this will be a surprise for them.
Yes—and then if the post online apparently it is about impossible for them to say, oops—I guess I was wrong!
