A county in Colorado issued a shelter-in-place order Wednesday in an effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
San Miguel Countys shelter in place order will be in effect until at least April 3 at the discretion of the public health director, according to the countys announcement.
As part of its mitigation plan, San Miguel officials will also test the entire county for COVID-19. The testing will be offered free of charge and will be administered by the county public health department.
We know just testing is not enough to fight this virus. If we invest in the short-term inconveniences of isolation and sheltering-in-place now, we will save lives, Grace Franklin, the county's public health and environment director, said in a statement.

My assisted living home in Custer County has banned visitors until further notice.
Folks, this is nuts. It doesnt impact people to any great extent that wouldnt have been pushed over the edge by a bad flu.
Let the younger people stay productive!
Stop it!
Population of 7,400.
So what if you so not want to get tested?
I supposed that men with guns will show up and insist.
I wonder what they will do with the people who test positive?
By the way. According to the article, nobody in the County has tested positive. Some people in the county, are sick with “something”.
This is insane. Will cops be shooting people who ignore this?
Insane.
I thought you only get tested if you had any symptoms and there are no cases there.
Oh wait I guess they are hoping they get some so they will test until they can say “We got a case”. Maybe then they can get government money.
According to Wikipedia, Telluride is in this county.
An the Colorado National Guard was in town conducting tests. I think it has a lot to do with a high number of international tourists and homeowners.
just BS...
Let me guess; San Miguel County is Democrats, right?
This is very odd. “Shelter in place” for the whole county when there are no Wuflu cases in the county?
“There are no confirmed cases in the county as of Tuesday, according to county data.
Across Colorado, there are 216 confirmed cases of the virus, according to the states data.”
....There are no confirmed cases in the county as of Tuesday”...
Well I suspect the shelter-in-place order is to keep it that way.
“Across Colorado, there are 216 confirmed cases of the virus, according to the states data.
And 2 deaths attributed to the virus. So in a state with 5 million people, the chance that someone you encounter has CV is about 0.002%, in other words, fat chance. Either that, or there are a lot of undetected cases, and the death rate is much lower than 1%. Which is it?
This is the dumbest thing anyone has done yet. The only town is Telluride, and the ski area is already closed. Most of the tourists are gone. Because of the peculiar mountain geography, this county is practically isolated. Even the most direct road there is closed this time of year. Most small towns in America should carry on with business as usual. Their odds of being economically damaged are far greated than their odds of catching the virus.
