Thousands of American college students refuse to let the pesky coronavirus pandemic get in the way of their annual pilgrimage to Florida for spring break.
Ignoring repeated warnings from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization about the potentially deadly COVID-19 virus, the masses showed up in Miami — only to find their good times hijacked by safety measures to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus that are taking effect.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered the closure of all bars and nightclubs in the state for 30 days as of Tuesday evening — after college crews were spotted partying at Clearwater Beach. “A lot of students have just been congregating at the universities and doing things there, and that’s not something we want,” DeSantis said at a news conference Tuesday.
Resolute revelers in the city’s South Beach neighborhood, however, vowed to keep the party popping.
“If I get corona, I get corona,” Brady Sluder, a defiant party animal of indeterminate age from Ohio, told Reuters. “At the end of the day, I’m not going to let it stop me from partying.”
Launching at the peak of Miami’s tourist season, “social distancing” precautions will also see national movie theaters, gyms and other businesses shut down to discourage gatherings of more than 10 people, which the CDC warns could spread the virus. However, the governor stopped short of closing some of the beaches spring-breakers were partying on, WFLA reported.

No. The number of hospital beds/ventilators is as I understand it the real concern. Yes the virus will be here a long time, but it is about trying to match the number of beds to those desperately needing them—as yet in the future.

Based Society ....I wonder how long it will be before the young folk realize that their restrictions on “Fun” is caused by trying to protect those “Old Farts” that they disrespect so much ...... and start Demanding the removal of the seniors from society so they can continue having Fun ........ Which apparently is their main Priority on Life ...

Saw a Facebook post yesterday - went something like:
“Good thing this coronavirus didn’t happen when we were kids. Our mothers would have had a lot of ‘get it over with’ parties.”
You’re right. 9-11 killed only 3.000-far less than a flu season and it only happened once. Not sure why we overreacted. Thanks for the perspective.
In this country, more people have died crossing a road.
Trump has never been afraid of the media or afraid to disagree with people-and yet he hasn’t done that once with this message. So -either he agrees with and and you need to support him because he’s right-or he’s gone soft and you need to call him out because he’s gone soft and the buck stops with him.
But stop blaming everyone but him. Either give credit where credit is due or blame where blare is due. He called out the spring breakers yesterday. You either support him or call him out as a hype -liar-hoaxer.
Make up your mind.
Ironically, nobody can get a pain pill these days. Try to get your doctor to give you a prescription. Lots of luck.
And if he gets it, he'll rush into the ER screaming "Save me! Save me!"
Demand safe spaces from opinions they don’t like. Won’t stick to literal safe spaces when there’s a pandemic.
