The U.S. airline industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak and will ask the federal government for a $50 billion aid package, according to Airlines for America (AFA), an airline advocacy organization.

What’s next? Fast food industry going to ask for 100 billion?
Malls in trouble, too.
I just checked pricing for a few trips, prices are a high as ever.
As predicted by me, we bailed out our biggest banks in 2009, and now no reason is acceptable to say no to anybody else.
Get in line behind the common folk who back the President.
Privatize the profits, socialize the losses. A game as old as agriculture.
I’ll be fiscally responsible and only ask for $1 million, for medicinal purposes and...”the children”.
I hate to the idea of it but as long as it is a loan I am for it. The airlines going under would be catastrophic.
We’ve got a spare unused high speed rail system here. For sale cheap.

You sure as hell don’t give them what they’re asking for initially. In their request, they’ve probably at least tripled the amount they really need.
Offer them $5 B initially and see how much they’re willing to deal. And they need to document the rationale behind this request before the feds make a knee-jerk reaction.
No money unless they weld all seats into full upright position!
Make Boeing make excellent planes again and then make the US carriers buy Boeing.
Thats kind of funny. Did you have a personal experience with reclined seats you want to share? :)
Well if everybody is going to raid the treasury, may as well join the party. Tagline was never truer
This virus situation proved that the climate change is a hoax. If it is as extinctive as it is claimed they would have intervened much more.
its a little too early for a bailout... sets a very bad precedent.
Trump should force some of the carriers, particularly the smaller/discount ones (e.g. Alaska, Frontier, etc) to merge first (or go bankrupt).
