David Stone snagged a cardboard box of .223-caliber ammunition from the shelf and slid it across the glass countertop, offering his go-to sales pitch: Welcome to the biggest selection of ammunition in all of Oklahoma.
Im not sure I can keep on saying that, Stone said, explaining that the supply of goods at Dongs Guns, Ammo and Reloading has been seriously depleted over the last few days.
Gun sales are surging in many U.S. states, especially in those hit hardest by the coronavirus California, New York and Washington. But theres also been an uptick in less-affected areas, with some first-time gun buyers fearing an unraveling of the social order and some gun owners worried that the government might use its emergency powers to restrict gun purchases.
Stones packed store shares a small strip of road with a church, a cemetery and another gun shop, and in recent days he has sold several firearms to truckers traveling along Interstate 44 here in Oklahoma. One trucker, who was headed to Arizona, bought $2,500 worth of firearms and ammunition, and another trucker, who was headed to Illinois, dropped $200 on ammunition alone.
You got to be protected for all sorts of stuff, Stone said. Seems like the world has gone mad.
In California, would-be customers formed a long line outside the Martin B. Retting gun shop in Culver City over the weekend.
Politicians and anti-gun people have been telling us for the longest time that we dont need guns, said John Gore, 39, part of the crush of customers in recent days . But right now, a lot of people are truly scared, and they can make that decision themselves.

Numbers from Tomas Pueyo
In a situation like the one we’re in,first time gun owners make me a bit nervous.
I remember that name from the gun rags back when I was a heck of a lot younger. Didn't know they were still extant.
Probably still “on topic”:
On his show last night talk radio host Bill Cunningam said he spent 4-5 days in Florida and was driving back on I-75 to Cincinnati.
“All the way up I-75 I saw a number of big caravans of military vehicles. Someone must think somethng big is about to happen.”
Makes one stop and think.
Yup.
Time to dust off the seventy five round clip.../S
I love how FReepers are now regularly using as source material CNN, MSNBC, LA Times and other Fake News sites to bolster Coronavirus!
This site is definitely taking a nose dive!
Better title would be “As the coronavirus panic grows ...”
It's such a LIEberal utopia!
The Shakiest Gun in the West (1968) starring Don Knotts.
Or the scene in Diamonds Are Forever where the Jill St.John character picks up an automatic weapon, shuts her eyes, pulls the trigger and fires off about thirty rounds before falling backwards.
I think it is time for JR to remind the people that visit this site why this site exists in the first place. There is no way that Freepers would be down with this virus nonsense 10-15 years ago.
If there is definitive evidence that it came from the Chinese L4 lab, why isn’t it incinerated? If it’s ours...same. We had better traceability in the auto parts lab I worked in. Citizens anywhere shouldn’t have to put up with this BS. Citizens everywhere would be thankful. What do the 5 eyes do? What do our scientists at are L4 labs know?
“in order to form a more a more perfect union”? OK,...FU politicos / propagandists
If you don't like this site, head on out.
BTW, note to all other Freepers (who like it here), Sturm, Ruger stock went up 3.6% today.
As an additional note, wise people know it is smart to know thine enemy. Such knowledge often comes from keeping an eye on their media.
Well, a little national pub for my homeys at Dong’s.
Run by a new generation of respectable people, but I had the honor of buying some stuff from and getting a little range time with Mr. Dong himself back in the early 80s.
Very much an American, having escaped the Chicoms, very much an advocate of the Second Amendment, and a cool guy in general.
It’s a good thing that the sign on the store still
says Dong’s.
