Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) on Monday called for the United States to take more drastic measures to address the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, including a national “shutdown” that would only exclude “absolutely essential work” and stipends to affected workers to assist them in paying their bills as the pandemic continues to unfold across the globe.
“The time has come for extraordinary measures to combat the Chinese coronavirus. What seems extreme today will seem obvious tomorrow,” Cotton, an outspoken skeptic of the House’s relief package, said on Monday.

You take the early WA cases out of the equation and the mortality rate in the US is currently at .58%. South Korea which had a lot initial deaths (before any known treatment methods) is holding steady at .91%.
——————————————————————————————Here in Washington state we are flattening out. Last week 100 out of 1000 tested were positive. Yesterday 100 out of 2500 per positive. The University of Washington has tested over 10,000 and now has drive-through testing set up.
Kaiser Permanente here in Washington begins testing the rendesivir vaccine under a grant from NIH. We are apparently the 5th city to do this vaccine testing. The first began a week or so at the University of Nebraska in Omaha. Yaknow, there in so-called deplorable heartlands.

I grow more pessimistic by the day. There’s no reason to believe this gets better anytime soon. Closing everything down WILL crash the economy and when it does the President gets the blame.
Rendesvir is NOT a vaccine. It is an antiviral treatment already tried with success against Ebola, SARS and MERS. Everyone needs to please stop with the vaccine hype. A vaccine is not a cure but this antiviral very well could be. You may have heard Pres Trump discussing antiviral treatments before he mentions vaccines as a side note.
