Austins Mayor Adler has officially banned gatherings of 250 people or more anywhere in the city or Travis County.
The ban on public or private gatherings, part of orders adopted by Adler and Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt, takes effect on 2 a.m. on Sunday March 15 and will continue until at least May 1, 2020.

Wayell....at least they pernounced it raaaht. Gatherins :)
See what happens when you choose to write your own headlines?
At least they have an end date on it. The ban in Hoboken had no end date that I saw.
Just where do these pinko governors get off thinking they can revoke the citizens right to free assembly?
The power has gone to their heads.
Is this relatively lightweight virus just a convenient excuse to get us conditioned to being banned for gathering in small groups?
Local pols git big balls during crisis.
Has anyone else noticed an emerging pattern that mid-continent America is extending restriction far later than the coasts?
Example: NY/NJ/PA all are currently looking a March 29 - April 3 as “back to normal” but the Little Rock AR Catholic Bishop is closing all churches through mid April (including Easter!).
Now TX looking at May 1.
It appears as though someone—is it the CDC/WHO—has projected that the virus is going to burn out in the coastal areas weeks before striking the center of the country.
The largest pockets of infection are currently up and down the East and West coasts, so it makes sense that they would impose restrictions first.
My guess is that most inbound planes to the US land in cities on the two coasts, do that isnt entirely surprising.
Most Americans likely have no idea that they have a Constitutionally protected right to free assembly.
Liberals finally decided the ONLY way to cause major problems for Trump was the nuclear option - kill the economy. They are apparently very successful at it. They can’t get him killed because a bunch of them would go to prison or might start a civil war, so they’re deciding to take a hit themselves to try and get rid of him. I’ve never seen that level of hatred before in my life.
Oh sure they do. That means they are allowed to block intersections, vandalize businesses they dont like, and assault anyone who disagrees with them. I understand governments expectation to keep the general public safe, but I have yet to see anything that supports this level of panic.
Every city has an assembly permit process for large gatherings. They can revoke it if they want.
I would ban Austin from Texas, if I could...
It is limited by local regulations by pinko cities.
Mayor Adled taking his cue from Californey...again. Austin’s leaders truly want to be Berkeley, CA and, for the life of me, I see no reason why.
Those cities are delusional. No possible way they are back to normal by March 29 - April 3. There isn’t any sign of slowdown yet, and they are just starting to take more serious measures which will take a while to show their effect.
How will they enforce this? You get a battalion strength group with guns and you’re not going to tell them anything.
I was thinking the same thing. What gives the government the right to restrict assembly? I can see a good request not to group up... But an out right ban? Totally unconditional. What are they going to do if we gather? Arrest us? So Trump rallies are banned? Does the emergency declaration give them this power?
I didn’t need a permit for my wedding... Didn’t need one for my grandfathers funeral... Didn’t need one for a big party at my house...
