There is no possibility of infection without the travel to China connection; therefore, we will not authorize testing. Travelers merely passing through other hotspots can’t possibly incur the virus, as it’s not airborne. There is no possibility of community infection. We are the only ones capable of proper testing, send everything to us for results.

The CDC didn't have enough tests, so they kept the testing in house and they kept the criteria for testing, unreasonably high.

I've read that people "shed" RNA from this virus for 1 to 4 weeks after resolution of their illness. I couldn't tell if "RNA shedding" meant dead viruses and inert virus particles. I wonder if the test distinguishes between dead and living virus genetic material.

I have set my 80 year old parents up with grocery delivery. I am running all their errands other than that. I wear mask and gloves and fully decon before going into their place. I dont want them to die. I have a heart and compassion. You do not.

Again with the personal insults. Did you know in recent years that 80 percent of those who died from flu were 65 or older? Approximately the same rate as this virus.

Your heart and compassion should have taken affect during the past couple of flu seasons where tens of thousands of the older generation were dying and at risk. I present you with facts and all I get is that I am a heartless monster.

As others have said it tests for virus particles not antibodies but there is a bit of an unknown as to whether the presence of dead virus could cause a false positive. That is currently under investigation
