Broadway shutting down all productions over coronavirus pandemic

Broadway will shut down for four to six weeks beginning tonight, due to the coronavirus outbreak, several sources told The Post. In what is the worst crisis the industry has faced since the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001, several shows will not be able to recover. “The Minutes,” a new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts that was to open Sunday night, is likely to close and never return.
Martin McDonagh’s acclaimed “Hangmen” is also unlikely to open this season, though it could come back in the fall. “Sing Street,” a new musical currently in rehearsals, will try to open in the fall, propped up by money from Barbara Broccoli, the producer of the James Bond movies. “The Phantom of the Opera,” Broadway’s longest-running show that draws heavily on foreign tourists, may well close down for good, sources said.

When you tell people about this coming depression. You can say it was self inflicted. People who think you can just start an economy up again are stupid. First, this virus will go on longer than people think. Then the depression will go on longer than people think. Jobs will disappear soon. The money will dry up. Then you will wish you got the virus.
We are trading the economy for health care. And we will get neither.

Broadway? Aren’t these the people that lectured our vice president? I didn’t want to celebrate our enemies’ suffering. But I will make an exception for Broadway. And pray for the Chinese and Iranians, etc. May God help them.
