The Ivy League canceled its men's and women's basketball conference tournaments Tuesday because of concerns about the spread of coronavirus.

The four-team tournaments were scheduled to be played Friday through Sunday at Lavietes Pavilion in Cambridge. The Ivy League instead will award its automatic NCAA Tournament bids to the regular-season champions, the Princeton women and Yale men.

I can’t believe people don’t want to spread this virus around as fast as possible to maximize the strain on hospitals and to increase the impact on the most vulnerable parts of the population. Seems so strange that while we have no vaccine that people would try to slow the spread of the contagion! I just don’t get it. Why does the media not want to maximize the death toll?

So no school except Yale risks getting their arse kicked by a 1 to 3 seed. Take that as a win, fellas.

“Everyone has lost their minds.”

Agreed. It’s the snowflake culture in full display. No one should ever be hurt in any way. The mere thought of catching this virus has them terrified. This won’t end well.

Virii happen. People get sick, people die. Terror at the mere thought isn’t the answer.

So won’t they skip the NCAA tournament too? Are some tournaments less likely to spread disease than others?

The Big West Tournament is still scheduled to take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim and the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach.

It’s still on the table to have those games but with no spectators. The world has gone stupid.

Exactly. Ivy League shouldn’t let any of its teams go to the NCAA Tourney, but then it wouldn’t get it’s NCAA tourney financial share.

No and No. But the Ivy League won't be liable for problems arising at the big dance.

If they're so damned concerned why don't they forbid their member schools from participating in the NCAA Tournament, you know, for the children.

An overabundance of lawyers has made us a highly risk averse culture. It's not so much that people are concerned about others contracting the virus, it's that they don't want to be held responsible for it.

I wonder what the bigger revenue conference tournaments will do?

The virus was obviously cooked up the dah Corona by Xi, hrc and Obama. So that once the virus claims Biden, Hillary will be the brokered convention nominee and take out Trump. Q told me. Those people dying all over who normally wouldn’t don’t mind then. Entire free nations going into lock down it’s just to make president Trump look bad. The money you just lost in the stock market ignore it, don’t be a sucker stay in lose some more
