BOSTON - The first recreational marijuana shop opened Monday in Boston, where owners are bracing for large crowds.
Pure Oasis owners Kobie Evans and Kevin Hart say theyre preparing for up to 1,000 customers a day to visit the store, which is also the first pot shop owned and operated by black entrepreneurs, in its initial days.
Evans and Hart say their shop marks a significant step forward for the East Coasts pot industry.
Its bittersweet. Its a great feeling to be first, but we know that also comes with a level of responsibility, Hart told The Associated Press last month after state regulators awarded the shop a final license. Its our responsibility to take this win we got today and make sure people of color realize they have the same opportunities.
They say the shop, located about four miles south of downtown in the citys diverse Dorchester neighborhood, will have a large waiting area, 10 registers and about 30 staffers on hand when doors open at 11 a.m.
Mayor Marty Walsh says police will also make sure the opening is safe and orderly, with officers helping with crowd and traffic control and discouraging public consumption of marijuana, which remains illegal in Massachusetts.
Its going to be crazy, he warned at a press conference Friday. Theres going to be lines, theres going to be traffic, theres going to be chaos, theres going to be confusion.

Identity politics reaches doobieland.
“police will also make sure the opening is safe and orderly, with officers helping with crowd and traffic control and discouraging public consumption of marijuana, which remains illegal in Massachusetts”
Haha, good luck with that. On January 1st in Chicago, everyone was smoking while waiting in the line for the store to open, and the cops didn’t give a hoot.
Yeah, man. It’s like, you know, like my responsibility for the Brothers, like, you know, dude.
For interest.
I’ve never been inside one of those businesses. If this is typical, I see there is no privacy at all. Everybody knows you use MJ and are walking away with some in your side pocket.
The truly nosy now know what potency of MJ you bought and what quantity as well. It’s set up like a Farmer’s Market; step right up! Those with evil on their minds simply watch you go to your car. Now they have that info too.
Maybe other such businesses are set up differently.
Go ahead and laugh. I probably sound paranoid here, but I dont see it that way. I just try to stay aware of my surroundings and what kinds of folks are nearby. Some folks use this as pain relief or appetite enhancement during chemotherapy, so there are good reasons to do it. Legitimate reasons.
I looked it up
What could possibly go wrong.
If it is anything like Canada, it will be string demand because of the novelty. However, many of these business will cease because people prefer illegal MJ.
Boston goes to Pot. Their children will go with it too.
As if anyone cares...lmao
Bernie will put them out of business or make them give it to whatever minority group he wishes to pander to.

I wonder if the state and all of these nitwit potheads have considered that almost all of the products they will be buying, putting to their lips and inhaling/eating were HAND PACKAGED by who knows whom; who may or may not have had exposure to COVID-19.
Never underestimate the poser of stupid people in large groups. But, after a few tokes or brownies, they won’t care about COVID exposure anyway.
No...most people prefer to save money...street pot is cheaper.
And the term “illegal” no longer applies ....its it either taxed or untaxed.
I just dont get it. The budd shops have been open in other cities and states for forever.
Perfect place to sell Girl Scout cookies!
“... owners are bracing for large crowds...”
But, but, but....CORONAVIRUS!!!!
The shop is located in “da hood”, an area many avoid if they want to avoid any “trouble”.
I’ll say no more.
