Family of Missouri's first coronavirus patient broke self quarantine, St. Louis County officials say
St. Louis Today ^

Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School will close Monday after administrators learned that a St. Louis County woman infected with the coronavirus is the older sister of a Villa Duchesne student.

Moreover, a message from the schools to parents, circulating on social media, warns that the father and sister of the infected patient attended a school father-daughter dance Saturday night at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton. They also apparently attended a pre-dance gathering at the house of a Villa student.

St. Louis County Executive Sam Page said Sunday that the patient’s family had been told on Thursday to self quarantine at their home in Ladue. Page said the patient’s father had not followed health department instructions. Page spoke at a news conference Sunday evening.

County health officials told the man on Sunday, Page said, “that he must remain in his home or they will issue a formal quarantine that will require him and the rest of his family to stay in their home by the force of law.”

There isn’t going to be any containing this in a country full of self absorbed morons.

This is going to run like wildfire.

Tort lawyers.

If you thought you would literally lose everything you owned and possibly be criminally liable (manslaughter) you might wish to avoid the father daughter dance. Just this once.

Clearly law enforcement isn’t going to do a damned thing to these people.

I don’t know about the law and it’s ramifications.

I do know I’d be looking for the meanest, most vicious civil-suit lawyer I could get and go after that man if someone I loved fell seriously ill or died because of his abject carelessness and lack of caring for the general health of the community.

The usual narcisissistic boomers. Wealthy, kids in private schools,

Travel abroad. No concern for neighbors.

How many elderly people will die in St.Louis because that family had to go to a dance?

The older sister just back from Italy took Amtrak from Chicago to St.L.

Amtrak is disinfecting the train and both stations.

Too late. The damage is done.

Ladue is a very affluent community in St. Louis County. This idiot is going to lose a lot of his wealth if anyone gets sick, and he should have to pay just for all the inconvenience and cleaning, etc.

There are numerous reports of people ignoring self-quarantine. Self-quarantine presupposes care and concern for your fellow man.
This is obviously not the case in too many circumstances. The best means to try to combat such people is a law holding those people personably liable for their actions. Financially liable. And, that liability must be permanent. The liability must not be subject to bankruptcy.
I am not a Wuhan virus alarmist by any means but, people who do not isolate themselves when they are diagnosed and told to isolate themselves are people with little regard for their fellow man and thus worthy of no regard themselves.

Would be nice.

We actually need to hold the Communist Chinese Party responsible for this entire outbreak.

Yup. It isn’t about just this particular virus.

There need to be civil penalties for quarantine breaking. At the very least you should be financially liable for any inconvenience to those you damage. Ie, you pay their salaries for 2 weeks and any medical bills they might incur as a result of your actions. Not to mention the cost of decon anything that needs decon-ing.

If any of them die, manslaughter at the very least.

Of course...you don't know the whole story, either.

Just saying...you only know what you read.

I'm generally in that same boat...

1. I am announcing that I, along with 3 of my senior staff, are officially under self-quarantine after sustained contact at CPAC with a person who has since been hospitalized with the Wuhan Virus. My office will be closed for the week.

To borrow a Biblical phrase:

"Let their house be left desolate."

It’s pretty simple.

YOu’re told to cool your heels at your house for 2 weeks.

YOu decide it’s more important to contaminate your friends and other venues at a father/daughter dance.

Should be MASSIVE liability from this.

Ie, write your name on the check, we’ll fill in how many ‘00’s’ we feel is necessary.

Do it to a few, the rest will watch and learn.

Narcs only learn if you hit their bottom line. By and large quarantine breakers fall on the dark triad. ‘Nice’ doesn’t work with them.

Next you throw his kid out of school. Kids are thrown out for less.

Then you get him fired.

etc.

We can figure out if your dog did the poop on the sidewalk from DNA. We could probably decide if the virus that killed this or that person ultimately came from this father...

He wasn’t running out of a burning house ‘breaking quarantine’. He wasn’t being chased by home invaders...

I still support caning them.
