Andrew Romanoff, a staunch progressive who has championed policies such as the Green New Deal, on Saturday claimed victory over former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper in the state's Democratic Senate caucuses.

Romanoff made the declaration with reported results showing him earning 55 percent of the raw vote and Hickenlooper with just 31 percent, the Denver Post reported. The Colorado Democratic Party has said that 55 of the state's 64 counties have reported results.

U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff who is backed by various progressive and climate groups, claimed a grassroots victory over former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and "the political establishment" late Saturday following the state's Democratic caucuses.

This is HUGE upset of the party favorite John Hickenlooper by far leftist Green New Dealer Andrew Romanoff.

Maybe not surprising since Comrade Sanders also won the state-wide presidential primary election for the Democrats; still, this is a major upset of the party favorite, and it basically indicates that the far leftists and bernie bots flooded the Democrat caucuses.

Now the Dems will have to have a state-wide primary runoff election between these two, and we can only hope and pray that Romanoff wins, because he's an anti-fracking, anti-drilling, anti-energy extremist in a state that gets massive amounts of revenue and taxes from energy production, as well as provides hundreds of thousands of jobs, so incumbent Republican Senator Cory Gardner would have a MUCH better chance of re-election against the avowed extremist ...

At least we know where they stand, unlike pricks like Romney and Collins with an R after their name.

That might be a blessing in disguise for our side.

Seems like a "winning" strategy for the Left: choose an extremist in the primaries and lose in the generals.

What’s the betting pool on the number of thumb-drives they’ll find this week? I say 44.

“This is HUGE upset of the party favorite John Hickenlooper by far leftist Green New Dealer Andrew Romanoff.”

There will still be a primary and Hickenlooper will still win.

Don’t count on Romanoff being an easy target. He’s very smooth. I know people in the oil and gas business who have met him and came away thinking he was a “reasonable” guy.

I ignore his emails and won’t give him $ but will hold my nose and vote for him.

I would love to see Chickenpooper replaced on the ticket with a Socialist. Gardner would have a much easier chance of holding the seat if he can just find the nerve to go on the attack.

However, don’t be surprised to see the Dems trot out a bunch of questionable ballot boxes to steal the nomination. They’re Democrats. Cheating is in their DNA.

Really? Hickenlooper isn’t satisfied with being governor and must now stick his snout back into the public trough as a state senator?

That’s the best that can be done in that situation.

There’s way more dough to be mined in Wash DC than any state capitol, save perhaps Sacramento and Albany.

I had to actually read the article to see Hickenlooper is running for US Senator and not state senator as I had assumed.

Yes a much better deal $$$ than a mere state senator.
